Shot him from 154 yards sitting about 30 feet back in the trees overlooking a field behind my uncle's house. He was chasing a doe and going toward the tree line on the right side of the field so I was tracking him and right when I went to shoot he stopped, causing me to miss. I sat still for a second, cycled the bolt, shot again and hit him. He ran a few hundred yards and must've been trying to swim across the pond and drowned because I found him in about 2 feet of water... So I had to go all the way back to the house like a mile away, get waders, come back, strip, and go in and get him.
First buck I've ever killed, so I figured what the hell and I'm having my uncle's taxidermist do a shoulder mount. He weighed in at 166.6 pounds field dressed.
