So I got referred to an off base medical facility for some test... I got a letter in the mail today from tricare saying that I am covered however (and I quote)
EXCEPTION: This approval and coverage is conditional if Other Health Insurance (OHI) or Medicare coverage exists.
WHAT THE **** IS THIS BULL****!!!!!!!!!

I like how you "deploy" to vacation spots.

Yes and no...
It would be killer to see my family but it would suck to see my family in 'stan haha.
But for real... I like doing my job and being OTW all the time. I like immersing myself in the environment and taking the experiences home with me. Im not worried about my life... I am worried about the lives of my friends and in turn they do the same for me. Always seemed to work well for me.

I'd rather be deployed into a place where people are trying to shoot you. Calling getting sent to AUAB or Manas a deployment cheapens what it means to deploy. If you're flying over the country but are based at AUAB or Dhafra then it's alright. but otherwise, not so much.

I'd like to be deployed to bikini Island to fight models infected with a nymphomania disease by terrorists.
Or Australia. The male to female ratio, cultural basis in violence and alcohol, and casual approach to cuisine appeals to me.

there are way too many innuendos to be made involving 'fighting' and 'stabbing' for one response so just let your mind run wild...

Sure kid. While you're at it go tell your chief that.

Yea...kind of like how 4N's(med techs) "deploy" to the ASF-Aeromedical Staging Facility for the wounded that arrive here at Andrews AFB...They call going down to the basement for 6 months a deployment, at least they are going to the desert and being seperated from the life of being stateside. Not to say that Abu Dhabi isnt lush and already americanized but still...

You need to catch up, my imagination long since went wild and I had to change into looser pants. One of my last ideas was that our shipment of combat knives was accidentally switched with a shipment of novelty erm.. neck massagers.

There are lots of intelligent and open minded people on reddit. Too bad they are all lurkers.

Went through SERE with a Flight Engineer who thought the same thing. He got put on an IV twice and we had to carry all of his ****. I really didn't want him to pass.

I did a civilian job in Colombia in 08' and my mom rotated down for a TDY. Following was Iraq with my dad in 09' while my mom and brother were both in Afghan at the same time. Also I was In Cyprus and Egypt in 11' on a civilian job while my dad was in Egypt and Saudi. I worked the NEO and although I didn't take him to the airport, I got to have a drink with him before he flew back to Riyadh.
Suffice to say my family is heavily involved in American foreign policy (so to speak) and my immediate family is only the surface. I have been in ****ty places and ****tier situations where having family and/or friends present has presented obstacles (sometimes benefits, but usually obstacles) and I can safely say, from a position of experience, that I would prefer not to be deployed in a combat zone where I knew I had family. They are inevitably a distraction.
I hope that is adequate clarification. Because I don't know you and don't care to elaborate further.
EDIT:
I've been out drinking with an army bud for a bit (and drinking) and that might have come off confrontational. My bad if so. (and drinking) So who likes beer, tattoos, and whiskey? (and Smirnoff?)
