Lol come down to the port. Random porters (our HR team) do our DTs and occasionally do RDTs. It's EVERY SINGLE DAY that we do this, it's protocol. Yes, every dover port commander (all worth their ****) let it happen because it's what is mandated by the command and by HQ. |

I'm not talking the transfers. I'm talking escorting the guy to his final resting place. I'm pretty sure thats what the guy was asking about. Again, unless you have some work/personal affiliation with the fallen, you aren't escorting ****. Your port CC has no say in the process other than the immediate transfer with his assets. |

Straight from the DOD directive. The only person escorting HR will be appointed by the PADD (its on your VRED).
4.4. The remains of deceased members will be continuously escorted by a uniformed member of appropriate grade and/or a special escort if approved by the appropriate Military Service or DoD Component concerned from the preparing mortuary to the funeral home location requested by person authorized to direct disposition of human remains (PADD). When remains are being returned to the United States from outside the continental United States (OCONUS) (to include Alaska and Hawaii) by military air or military-contract air, the aircraft commander will serve as the official escort until arrival at the CONUS port mortuary for final processing. If remains are processed at an OCONUS location and are ready for transport to the destination identified by the PADD, an escort, other than

my morbid curiosity got the better of me. The first part of the response I got asked if I was currently seeking to get out. and then the second half went on to talk about the mechanics of the OPR process.
so I'm a bit confused... You ask if I'm trying to get out but then bother to explain the process. It just seems bipolar...
Should be fun sending a reply tomorrow explaining how many avenues of escape I've looked into...

So today I have firing and it runs till 2100ish. My flight chief cut me loose for the duty day buti am waiting at the kennels to get cleared by the KM. I have a feeling there is a **** storm brewing... ugh.
EDIT: he just briefed everyone by saying "if you have an appt on a day of work then you must notify me 72 hours prior". So the appt roster we have is useless because he doesn't even refer to it... man I need to get out of this kennel!!! I'm going insane :/

Lucky... I wish I could have at least a fraction of this morale.
