Autotune will never hurt but it isn't necessary.

I was hang problems with my z2 for a little while.
99% of the time, z2 shredding is caused by mproper assembly. The feed neck should have no gaps between the anti jam and floor plate and back bone

Just to chime in on reliability issues, I've never had problems with my Z2, absolutely love it.
Simon, our captain changed where we're going for practice sunday, looks like I won't be at Top Gun. Have fun at the event though!

Does that answer your question?

Yes.
Checking all sensors once in a while is always a good idea.

If I turn off motor sensing, will that turn off the feature where it spins with no paint in it?

No. It will make the loader push harder on the paintballs.
If you want the loader to stop when it is empty your only option is to quickly grab the rip drive wheel. It will stop spinning, and then start again when you reload or shoot your gun.

Do you know of or see an advantage in turning off motor sensing?
I am used to playing with smoke shell hoppers so I can see how much paint I have left. After speaking with a college PSP tournament player, I was told that smoke shell hoppers are a liability. The opposing coach can see if you are low on paint. So I ask how I can tell when I am low on paint when using a non-see through shell? One way is that the hopper will become lighter. But another method is to listen when the motor spins the carrier since it it empty.

Well, with the answer to motor sensing that Simon gave, no I don't but I do see an advantage to having a hopper that doesn't spin when it's out of paint.
I know from experience that (particularly in snake) when you hear velcro or a spinning rotor, you run that player down. I use the Lysk magnetic pack for that reason. I use smoke shells to tell similar things, just like you mentioned.
Everyone has their preferences and can figure mine is minor or insignificant, it's just a feature from the original Prophecy that I greatly enjoyed.

This is why I always reload when there's a few left in the hopper; or make sure I'm keeping the opposing player in his bunker by shooting while reloading.

I would not consider listening for the spinning motor a preference. I see it as your strategy. Did not think of it myself.
Perhaps this could be feedback to Empire. Make the spinning motor sound loud enough so the owner can hear it, but not the opposing player.

It causes the gun to shred paint, point blank. We are aware that some people are not having any issues with the Z2, but after significant field testing, the Z2 was/is the culprit in our case. No other loader has given us this many problems and we have tried and compared them all because we wanted the Z2 to work, as it is, on paper, the best loader on the market. We used 5-6 brand new Z2's and all of them had the same effect on the gun. We switched guns (Geo, Ego, G6R, Victory, Clone, etc.) same problem. Switched paint, same problem. Tried the "Factory calibration" same problem. Pulled the loader out of the feedneck 1/4 of an inch, same problem. Switched the Z2 loader for another loader (Rotor, Vlocity, even a damn Torque) NO PROBLEMS. And now you disguise a fix as an "easter egg" C'mon man. We are paintballers NOT special education kids (well some of us might be, lol)
For those of you who are experiencing no problems with your Z2, I am glad you have a working loader. Most of my team want the Z2 to work and hopefully this "easter egg" will fix that and we might go back to the Z2. But as it stands now, most of us have already sold or traded our Z2s and went back to Rotors or other hoppers.
Not happy with Empire/Simon right now.

My z2 has never broke or
Chopped a ball. Only prob I have sometimes is this
Put z2 in feedneck, put paint in, air up gun, turn on z2, and sometimes it doesn't shot and I need to hand spin the rip drive or use the reverse button. Had this happen a couple of times
