Best pack for around $40
I'm looking through ANSgear for a new pack and I'm thinkin about the LYSK Sheath Magnetic NdFeB+ 4+3+2, how is this pack? Are there any better packs around that price range?

Yo man - check out their spring sale. They've got some good discounts on pod packs. I just bought the Empire Liquid Hinge pack for around $40. My buddy's got one and it works well. Lots of good reviews online too.
Not sure what shipping to Alaska is like though...

Yeah, the spring sale is where I saw the lysk, total it will be about $60 with shipping that's why I don't want to spend too much on the pack.

the magnetic pack is a bit on the heavy side, but it is high quality and the magnets work really well. they dont fit lock lids at all so avoid it if you use those.
if you dont use lock lids then its a good choice for sure. and for ansgear they do free shipping to the US and i think in some parts of canada for orders over 100.

The shipping doesn't apply to alaska =\ I'm most likely going to be using some cheap JT pods.

try the B/S/T section here, you can usually pull off a NXe or older Dye pack for $25-40.
i got a NIB 4+5 NXe Joy Edition pack for $30 back a bit

things to look for in a pack:
1. Nice padding on the back. It should not flex that much to provide a little support and grip.
2. Good quality velcro that has some wideth to it. Too small it wears out very very quickly.
3. Elastic of high quality that helps eject the pods (this is preference, but most people imo prefer this.)
Examples:
Valken Stealth Packs are really decent
the higher up NXe packs are very good
Some of the reds Packs are really nice
If you can find an older XSV pack, with the XSV logo on the right side strap, it's my favorite right now.

Empire React 5+8 pack.
Whatever color and size.
$20.
Mine (bought new from ans in 2006 or 2007 and the last and only pack purchased since) just had its first tear a month ago from getting caught on a bunker stake.
That's how awesome it is. I had no need to buy another pack, even though I've been through 12 hoppers, over 80 guns, and over 9 tanks and 27 barrel combinations.
That was the only constant to my equipment.

Pods are pods... Chances are you'll loose them before you break them

If you're losing pods your doing it wrong, its not that hard to keep track of them. Also go with the empire ones, pretty much the same price but they are real nice imo.

Yep, I just got a brand new React 5+8 from The Boss. $22.95, and it is seriously a great pack for the money.

tell me what my empire 5+4 i bought for $35 new doesnt have that the ones that cost $60 do have.
honestly some of the best packs i have ever seen were the diablo ones but i dont think they make them anymore. super strong construction, elastic enclosures like youd expect on any decent pack, and a ton of padding on the back, it was one of the most comfortable ive seen, far more than nxe pack.
they were like $18 new too, wish they still made them.

Forget Velcro, get the critical V2.
You can find them used on the nation, just have to look around.
