Indoor paintball never works in ND. For whatever reason the players in this state don't have the level of dedication for such a field to exist and profit. Save your money and keep it outside as a practice field for those who really want to put in the time.

On a more serious note this will never a make a dime. If you have a place to set it up and bunkers then sure why not. Indoor paintball has happened in Minot before and tanked out swiftly. The player base consists of air force guys and a pretty select group of locals that used to play when we had a team running on throw together barrel fields. Also I learned people in that part don't understand it takes money to run a place like that and they won't pay the 80 a case you might need to stay a float. The base claims they were doing reball but I wouldn't hold your breath. Someone there has a private airball field so find them.

This would have to be non profit only, at least until you could possibly get together a player base. even then its a huge crap shoot. as much as i want a field here good luck

I'm happy someone from the area even points this out. Airball is such a waste for your regular rec player. (In ND anyway)
Seriously, if you guys have all this will and ambition to play drive to a field or find a place to play. But the constant posting of "INDOOR PAINTBALL IS GUNNA HAPPEN HERE THIS TIME GUISE" doesn't help your cause. It didn't work before, and unless you have the backing of some filthy rich benefactor its not going to this time. It's North Dakota, we don't have the warm, year round weather. We don't have the numbers of players like Cali, Florida, or Arizona. (And those places have outdoor airball fields that go out of business on a regular basis because those people don;t know what they are getting into!)
I'm not trying to be a dick here. (Maybe a little.) I'm just trying to stop you from making a bad choice that could seriously effect you financially and end up with you leaving the sport. We see it all too often where people get so excited and go way too far, way too fast, then end up leaving the sport.

I know I've made the drive to AA enough times to play but people hear we have to drive a few hours so they bail out. Grand forks has an airball field for the summer but its privately owned and they Guy owns the land and got the bunkers for cheap so why not? The best chance for indoor paintball besides Winnipeg (hella pricey) is the air force base. Military = stupid money to throw around.

We drive to AA for tourneys when they come up and go to Hudson in the spring for their big game. (At least a 3 hour drive.) It just comes down to who cares enough about it to go the extra mile.

Thats the problem. Only a very select few around here actually would drive, the rest in the area just go play in the trees in there back yard. And by here i mean minot area

Or just avoid Minot like the plague is always a solid option.

i'm new to the ND area but i'd be down. now that I have a real job i want to get back into things, indoor fields are hard because they only realy bring in one type of players. tournaments are great fun but rec ball is where the money's at

Indoor won't work (and didn't work, if you remember the Trax + one) in Minot because there isn't enough potential customers. Period. Run the numbers.

Well be honest its not the only thing its gonna be we working on rock climbing and other events but we are bringing a indoor field to play because ND sucks period without a paintball community and the wind sucks so indoor is legit. But I will be building a hyperball field outside and not like the ****ty field that was on the airforce base.

This is what Trax + did at the fairgrounds (circa 2002-2003). They had multiple activities going on in one building. The problem with indoor paintball is that you will fast find yourself as a full-time cleaning operation trying to deal with cross-contamination of the paint on all your other activities.
Try rock climbing when every square inch of your business (and your customers) are coated with paintball grease.
Not trying to be a pessimist, but ND has a history of putting the horse in front of the cart.
Build a solid out-door field (NOT anything to do with the Airforce), build the customer base and put the indoor field on the ten year plan.
