thats the first thing im checking when im done with customers cars. But i was just BSing with coworkers about it. I need to check for leaks in the vaccuum resivoirs. a leak there would explain why it builds boost and then tapers off. The vaccuum would be consumed and no replenished since its under boost and.

That stance is killer. Rear wheels look all broken and **** but they're actually sitting without much camber. If only I could find a set of wheels like this.. I want more overall concavity out of my wheels
I know that guy. He just changed em up and put those on his Girlfriends car. His stance was really nice.

Is 30FF your only fault? If you have other faults, look towards fixing them first, as 30FF is a secondary fault in most cases.

If it is your only fault, check for kinks or collapsed vacuum hoses. Two hoses run side by side over the top of the valve cover and then split off into vacuum canisters.

If your waste gates aren't noisy as hell I doubt you have waste gate issues. If you have a loose enough waste gate to cause 30FF you would hear that think clanking like mad.

Also, if you want to PM me the last 7 of your vin, I can double check, but I'm pretty sure at 75k you are still covered for issues resulting from waste gate failure should that be the problem.

I've fixed most 30FF cars with vacuum lines, a couple with switching solenoids, and only a few with turbos.

Craigslist in a city 2hrs away. Dude doesn't know what he has. With a little bit of elbow grease, I could flip for 12 easily. But I think I'm going to keep them

Also, Fall/Winter is here which means its PM time to get ready for next Spring/Summer. Had my OBD2 checked a couple minutes ago at Advanced Auto, the only fault I had was a P1515, which I've done some research but I'm reading that its an electrical, mechanical and/or nonexistent fault codes, so I'm not sure what exactly the code means. Anyone know? It's not listed here on the e46fanatics forum.

Going to go ahead and finally clear my dash of all the yellow.
- I've got the windshield washer light on, will this just be a replacement of the windshield washer pump + hoses?
- Need new brake pad sensors, I replaced the pads but not the sensors, so they're still lit.
- Finally, coolant light. I think it's low coolant, as it comes on and off randomly, but the temp gauge stays steady. I'll do a flush and 50/50 mix this weekend.

Thinking about seafoaming, too.. anyone have first hand experience with it?
Also planning to paint my interior trim this weekend, I don't like the woodgrain and I don't like playing with vinyl wrap, I think its annoying to use.

Lately I've been considering leasing an F30 328i or possibly buying a CPO E89 Z4. I'm leaning towards the 328i just because of the fuel pump issues I kept hearing about the turbo engine in the E89 having. Is this really something to worry about? I wouldn't be modifying the car at all.

I wouldn't get an F30 cause they're ugly. E89 is N54? If true, the fuel pumps are warrantied to 8 years/120k miles now, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, they're N54 in the sDrive35i and sDrive35is. I guess that's something I would have to look into with a dealer, I assume the fuel pump warranty would transfer to me if CPO but not if I buy a non CPO car? Also, F30 looks good.

Ok, I'll give you guys that the m-sport f30 looks pretty good...from the side.

The base model might be the ugliest thing BMW has ever produced. I just can't handle the whole 'headlights connected to the grill' thing.

Regarding the fuel pump: it is its own separate warranty, CPO doesn't matter. The important questions are: has the original been changed? If yes, how many times? When? How many miles does the current pump have on it? Highway or city miles? My understanding is that the life is a function of 'hours running', not 'miles driven' so take that into consideration.

The newest generation of pumps are fixed. We rarely see bad HPFPs anymore, and I've never seen the newest updated part go bad.

Warranty is extended and CPO covers the pump anyway, so really nothing to worry about anymore with the fuel pumps. Personally, if the only thing with N54 that scares you is the HPFPs, you may want to do more research...

Those engines have some nasty expensive repairs from 75k onwards...

Hmm, I'll look into it a little more. Most of the ones I've looked at are 2009 MYs with like 25-35k miles. I really don't want a money pit.

I also don't want to buy a 2 seat sports car and know I could have had a more powerful engine. Trade offs, they suck.
