First EPL event in 2011 was at LVP, where we finished 8th. Obviously our illustrious 8th place finish was due to ref favortism. The last EPL event in 2011 was also at LVP, where we lost to Zodiac Killers in the finals and finished 2nd...you guys finished 9th...

So, your arguement saying we shouldn't be allowed to play at our home field is just...retarded.

Good luck if you play MAPL/GPL, they run a good tournament from what I hear.

This was my first tournament ever and it was exactly how I expected it to be, the refs on the blue field were fair and caught "most" hits.. but some of the waiting got ridiculous and I almost got hypothermia lol... Every sport is going to have its winners and its losers people just need to realize it

key word is earn that first place, they dont hand it out. If it was easy it wouldnt be worth playing for. From watching this event and not actually playing it, and actually knowing all the refs and most players on most teams unlike others only speculate they do, I can tell you personally the reffs sunday dont even know the names of 6/7 of the winning team, let alone like them or even play with them since the majority of refs, contrary to popular belief, do not play at lvp or even with lvp teams on the regular. Reading this talk event after event gets tiring. Stop thinking you're the best and prove it if you can. Personally i was surprised to see both teams in the finals as I thought OTP united was playing the best ball all day.

Just a heads up to all of teams that played on the Blue field:

The RED field ran on time during the event. The Blue field finished about 1hr and 30 minuets early do to a team not showing up and having fewer games scheduled. Had the “missing team” shown up then both fields would have stopped around the same time. We where told the “missing” team was on the way, but they never showed.

We decided to continue with the RED field and it original schedule due to the simple fact that most teams had been playing all day on the RED field and I was not going to force them to start playing on the BLUE field just because I wanted to finish the tournament faster. The layouts where the same, however there humans setting up these fields and I know that there are different shots on each field. I was not going to stop the event, allow teams to walk the BLUE field, and then start back up. That would have delayed things even further.

Switching fields would have been unfair to the players and teams. I refuse to force a sudden change, like switching fields, on a team during their final rounds. I have seen done it in the past and I will not do it. (just drawing on my experience here).

To everyone else:

They APPA servers actually failed. The event would have had to stop until the servers where fixed had it not been for the registration staff working throughout the prelims to figure which games needed to be play in the final round of the RaceTo-2 format. They kept us running and we did not miss a beat. Once the APPA servers came online, we where able to get all of the scores on to the electronic scoreboard which the APPA provides. Quarter finals, semi-finals, and finals ran as fast as the teams would get to the field.

The refs at the event where not trying to make Philly Notorious win. A large number of our referees had never even been to LVP South before. None of us have an interest in who wins. All of us want to provide the best tournament experience possible.

Stating the “I am going to go play ________________”.(<<insert whoever you want). I have heard it plenty over the years and other “promoters” tell me they hear it often. My response ,both publically and privately, is…I encourage everyone who plays tournament paintball to try leagues. That way you will have a better comparison and then will be able to choose the league that best meets your needs.

I don’t know if anyone noticed but registration was fast and efficient. We started checking 32 teams in at 6:30am and finished with ID cards, roster changes, and waivers just before 7:45am. This was a huge improvement over years past. We have an efficient system in place and we plan on using it from now on.

We would like to Thank LVP South for host the first event of the EPL North. We look forward to returning in 2013.

Thanks to all of the teams who participated the Tri-State Open. I was our largest turnout to date and we could not have done it without your support. We look forward to serving you in the near future.

Definitely the right way to go about it. Switching the fields would have been way worse.

Are the refs EPL refs that will be the same at each event or were the refs LVP Refs that only reffed this event? Just wondering. As far as everything else i think it went as smooth as it could given the weather.

The only advantage a "Home" team will have in the EPL is being closer to the field to walk or play the field more often. ONLY ADVANTAGE. It's funny the only complaints about the EPL come from the North. First event in South my team was the "Home" team at KPS and we took 3rd. The 3rd point in semis the other team had a dirty hang and Chad had every opportunity if he wanted to help out home team to overturn the call in our favor. We got our **** shoved in that point though and rightfully lost. They beat the tie breaker by about 20 seconds I think. After it's all said and done, my team is not looking to change leagues or complain about the reffing. We were undefeated up through that point. All through prelims and quarters... All it left was a vengeance to practice harder and grind it out, so that next time there isn't going to need to be a decision based on time. Paintball is what it is. Anyone who's played tournament ball can tell you a time they felt cheated or a time they just think things didn't go there way. You have to grit your teeth and train harder to make sure those things don't happen. Sometimes if you know for a fact a player wiped, put some "extra love" on him next time and let him know you saw it. Truth is, if yu're sitting in your bunker waiting for someone to run through your paint it's most likely not gonna happen. Get out there and play old school aggressive in your face paintball.
I've gone off course a little too much. I just know what paintball used to be, and how I see it now. Khaos is looking forward to the East Coast Cup this year.

i have some questions?

if your team was being favored in some way you might not even be aware of. And you found out, would you still come on here and complain about that?

If a ref came over and wiped off what you knew was a legal hit even if it was a grazed hit but you knew it broke. Would you say " no ref, im out. "

if a teammate of yours was reffing your field by some chance. and you found out, would you say something to him about that? win or lose?

if you ran and bunkered a player and he hit you first but the ref says otherwise even though you know you know you didnt make it, would you speak up?

if your overall performance at events were due to mostly favoritisms and not true teamwork would you truly be able to celebrate. or would you just shrug your shoulders and say that world famous (lame) response "a win is a win."

Do you come on and complain after you have won the event about "lousy" reffing and favoritisms etc etc etc. Even if it was true about some refs?

The point of these questions are to incite thought and self examination. This goes for any of us. I can respect a person who admits " hey im mad and complaining because we lost. possibly to a better team or just a better team at that moment or because we didnt play our best game that game, that event, that series, whichever it may be. be honest with yourself and dont cause yourself to be viewed as a sore loser because you have not addressed these questions above honestly before you start ranting.

freedom of speech comes with the option of thought. no one is saying you cant say what you want. but it is suggested that you first consider your thoughts about what you are about to say. especially when it comes to unjust criticism.

feel me or no?

This is for whomever the shoe may fit.

im fairly certain that jjdogz just hates Philly and/or PA in general. This is the same old, same old as far as im concerned. its all he did last year. Him and his team would lose, he'd go home, jump on twitter and facebook and nation and spread his hate in an attempt to make himself feel better. jjdogz, you are absolutely correct when you say that you have a right to voice your opinion. But when you get repetative with your Philly Notorious and LVP hate it no longer remains an opinon but instead an obsession. Your "obsessive" proclamation that Philly Notorious is somehow invincible because the refs favor us is just plain ridiculous. Last year we placed 8th, 2nd, 3rd, 1st, and 2nd. clearly we werent invincible and clearly we werent favored. Notorious practices hard. Our organization prides itself on our work ethic, our demeanor, and our brotherhood. We strive to promote and support this sport by being helpful at our local field and helping the younger generation learn about it. We say "good luck" and "good game" to the other teams and show sportmanship to everybody that deserves it. Bottom line is, jj, you got beat. You got beat by a team that performed better than you. So if you hate the fact that you got beat than you should, instead of posting this immature crap on the internet, entertain your time with a paintball gun in your hand and come out to the next EPL and beat us.

* I am, in no way, saying that our players are perfect. Paintball is a fast paced, adrenaline packed sport and with that comes passion. Everyone loses their cool at some point in time. However, Notorious is always willing to give credit where credit is due and is always the first to admit fault.

This statement is in no way meant to engage an arguement but more to clear the air.

Let me be clear: Notorious does NOT receive favoritism from the refs, we DO NOT know the refs, we DO NOT play with the refs. Period
