Is it worth upgrading the optimus board?

I just bought a used axe to use a loaner gun. I guess it's pretty old since it has the optimus board instead of the shockwave. I plan on using this primarily as a loaner gun and keeping it on 10-12 capped semi. Is it worth upgrading to the shockwave board if that's all I'm going to use it for?

Have you used it? Does it run well? If it's in good shape I wouldn't do it for a loaner gun. But it's ultimately up to you.

If it'll just be a loaner honestly as long as it works I would just leave it alone.

Tested it out today and it worked fine, so I'll just leave it. Thanks

don't upgrade it but, be ready to replace it. They have abysmal reliability. I keep a shockwave board on hand just in case...

If you are playing any tournaments with NXL rules the Optimus board is not legal so you should update. There are also various other reasons to upgrade such as ease of changing settings, setting don't get lost when you change the battery, easier to turn on/off tournament lock and overall reliability.

I'd go ahead and ask Kee/GI for a replacement, and have it on hand.
