Steve being a vet doesn't really help you if they only referred veterans... all that means is you have a chance at the list for being a vet, not that you made it on there or are anywhere near the top.

Sounds like typical fed. gov. bull****. Though I can see how thats thats probably true for many of said LE jobs but here in the park service it seems to be the norm that vets make it to the top and there usually arent many of them applying. I'm not sure what type of law enforcement your looking to get into but if you go to SLETP for the NPS you can get a job easily, seems most vets havent caught onto it yet.....which is why I have a slim chance, granted you have to work as a seasonal for a bit before FLETC but ya know if its something you really wanna do you just kind of stick it out.

I'm not looking to get into LE at all. I work in fraud and national security for CIS so I have a lot of contact with LE agencies like ICE, FBI, SS. We have a lot of vets working here at all levels so it's a pretty good environment. Actually pretty much every new person i've seen come in lately has been a vet or retired military.

My mom has a degree in "relief and emergency preparedness" or something like that, and she can't find a job in her field at all..... Every application or job posting has "mil/LE experience" as a prerequisite.

She does.... But she's trying to get into a more stable industry, so she's shopping around for places to work, and actually use her degree..... Which is impossible, due to no .mil/LE experience.

I love the world, you need a "education" you go and get that education only to find out you need "experience" then you go looking for experience only to find out that without giving your *** into modern day slavery your eduction means nothing.
