what else are you thinking about doing suspensionwise?

I'm selling my civic (hopefully today) to get into a scoob. I'm lusting after 98-2000 2.5RS's, but they're tough to find stock, and modded ones are well out of my price range (~3500). Theres a nice 2002 TS wag about half an hour away from me with ~200k miles...and another 2002 regular wag with about 190k. They're pretty cheap (2700, 2100), which would be great cause there's then room to get some fun stuff for em

Buying a car with 200k miles, You may be repairing more than uprading. They are good cars, But nothing lasts forever.

Don't cars get royally trashed from salted roads?

yep, that I understand, some are better than others though, and from what I understand scoobs are some of (if not the) best. (from what I understand, 95% of all subarus, ever produced, are still on the road).

if not taken care of, yes, as long as the car is washed relatively regularly during the winter, it's not too bad. and it just turns into rust

I've always been told to stay away from buying cars that came from up north. Just like you don't want a car from down here. It was prolly hit at least once, And we have salty air.

Still on the road doesn't mean that brake rotors, calipers and clutches haven't been replaced. They are good cars, I'm just sayin.

I'd stay away from any car over 100K unless it has a complete service history. While they're reliable, they're at the point where EVERYTHING needs to be looked at - especially from being up north. Between the harsh summers and then the winters - no thanks. Save your money and get something in better condition - you'll save money in the long run even though the car is more money to begin with.

Right now, while it's still under warranty... The car comes stock with UEL. That's why the WRX have the rumble - regular Impreza 2.5's are EL.

well of course, I don't plan on getting anything without a complete service history, I made that mistake once, and don't plan on making it again (I kinda got screwed with my civic).

With that said, I just sold my civic, and am on the prowl for something new. like I said, ideally i'm looking for a 99ish 2.5 with most likely 125-150k on it

If you can find an older 2.5.... LIke a GC or something.. Drive it as is then save for an STI swap.

yep, that was pretty much the ideal plan. I don't have tons right now, but i'd love a higher mileage 2.5 (150+) to turn into a swap when I have a good job
