Yeah, I don't think every case has been erroneous breach wear. By that I mean that I don't think it was all because the breach was milled a little off. However, I think that using a brand new marker and ending up with wear on the first day indicates some sort of problem. Ego's, geo 2's, dm's, and even shockers never had this wear effect. I guess what I'm saying is that each result has to have some sort of origin cause. For the Luxe, I'm not sure what it is. I am especially curious because some people are not getting wear at all while other people are getting blatant scraping. Has anyone tried the pooty bolt and gotten better results? i.e. no breach wear at all.
I think the roughness and smoothness play a part in explaining the wear. Or perhaps the smoothness means the "bump" is closer to normal and the rough means it's further from normal. Hmmm

There is only 2 variables in this equation. The first would be the roughness of the paint being used. Ive felt some paint that has a much rougher shell than others. The second would be the finish of your gun. A dust finish will be rougher than a polished finish and will produce more friction. Either way, breech wear is nothing more than anno which has been removed. Ive seen guys pay good cash for an entire gun with all the anno removed because it was shiny.
Think of it this way, its free polishing for your breech!

LOL. that's one way to look at it.
again, mine stopped awhile ago. When I first discovered it I cleaned the entire gun and bolt and did the sharpie test (marked the breach where it was getting wear with a sharpie and after about 100-150 shots or so the mark started to fade. And that was with dry firing. I also tried with a different power core and got the same results. After a game I would notice the grease around the front inner can oring would turn dark and there would be crap in the barrel.
But now it has stopped and I don't get crap in the barrel nor do I see the grease on the oring turn dark.
either way, it never affect performance and it still shoot smooth.

I suppose the anno itself is the likely culprit. I definitely feel a difference between dust and polished anno. Dust is very gritty and rough. It's understandable that there would be more wear as compared to polished surfaces. Maybe what is happening is that the breach is initially the exact proper size. However, after the anno process the breach is a bit tighter? I don't know much about anno so I can't even say whether anno actually adds a minute amount of width to the surface it is on. I know it doesn't affect performance (in most cases) but its annoying. Even if a bunch of dents on the body didn't affect performance I wouldn't like it, lol. At least it's hidden away. Either way, $1500 is a lot for any marker. When you decide between two that are really close, these are the types of details that sway the direction of the choice.

Anyone else with a 2.0 that has the "first day" breach wear? From what I can tell from various forums, this issue is more prevalent with Luxe 1.5's. Not sure why. It might just be that more people with the 1.5 are posting their experiences. From what I've read on this forum it seems like the wear is only until the roughness of the anno is worn off. After that it isn't affected. Has anyone had the anno continue to wear until it was a problem?

^^^^Thanks! Most people have been saying that even dry firing is causing the wear. That means that we can isolate the issue to determine whether it's paint or breach design/size. Once it's down to that, it's only a matter of time before we know exactly why this is happening. I never bought the idea that it is "normal". Normal markers don't wear down to metal the first day, lol.

I agree that wear is normal. However, the wear that we are talking about is abnormal. It's happening much faster and much different than the wear that we have become accustomed to. It makes sense for a poppet marker to wear since the bolt is literally scraping against the breach. This doesn't explain spools though. Spools have a floating bolt with no contacting parts. Having a breach down to aluminum the first day you own it is definitely not normal. I guess what I'm trying to say is: 1. Breach wear is normal, 2. Breach wear as seen on some Luxes is not normal.

^^^ I find this strange as well. Considering the Luxe is made in a state of the art facility it shouldn't even be an issue. The milling is laser guided to.
