So my fan controller will control all but one of the fans I have it hooked up to. That fan runs 100%. Thing is, the other fans are all the same exact fan so I don't understand why this one wont fall in line with the others?

They are B-Gears B-Blaster 140mm fans. They get kind of loud at 100%, hence my wanting to lower the speed on this one.

He says fan controller so I am going to assume its Hardware and not software.

Try the Fan on a different channel and see if it falls in line there. You either have a bad channel, are at the limit of the controller, or you have a fan motor that cannot be undervolted.

You guys wanna help out my friend? He's looking into building a computer, so basically just need some advice on different parts. This is a full out build which needs to include monitor/mouse/keyboard...The whole setup.

Budget is 1000$. He can go a little over, but he wants most games to go on max settings.

ok so I think this is the issue:

The fan I cannot control is the one with the extra connector for the motherboard. Since that is not connected to my motherboard, I am thinking it wont let me change the fan speed... Any way around this? I've never used a fan controller before so this is confusing me.

Oh its one of those, its a PWM fan...

Some Fan controllers can, and have adaptor cables for doing that. In this case however I think you are gonna have to plug that one into the MB and set the control in your BIOS.

Does the connector for the Fan controller have 3 or 4 pins in it? Hard to see from the picture and I dont' want to assume?
Also which Aerocool controller is that? I have Manufacturer reps I deal with daily and might be able to ask.

Worth noting that you've only got two pins in that 4-pin connector.

Pretty sure it has 3 unless I just had a brain fart there.

I'll double check and report back. Might just switch out out with the exhaust fan since I have that running 100% all the time anyways and it's much quieter.

It's an Aerocool 1000.

Look at the connector circled and labeled "1"

Now look at the very clear pair of wires going to it as opposed to the 3 going to the others... It isn't setup to control that fan, but rather just to power it.

Doesn't matter, that connector just has a ground and the PWM signal so it can be read by the mobo...the female connector is probably meant to go to your CPU fan so you can control it with the controller by adjusting the 12v supply but the speed of the fan will be displayed by the BIOS when the male end is plugged into the mobo.

Thats just an extra connector so your MB knows its got a Fan connected to it so it doesn't freak out (Some report CPU fan failure unless something populates that controller).

However that controller should allow the last fan to be controlled, unless its at its limit.
Did you try the fan on other locations to see if it gets powered/Controlled?

Oh wow, I'm an idiot. Didn't notice that some of those were male/female.

Yep, tried it and it worked in the other hookups.

I'm going to just hook fan #1 to the exhaust. That's the one quiet one I have. Running at 100% sounds roughly equal to the others at 50%.

Why not return the controller and get one that functions as expected?

It could be because a) it is and the last channel is strictly dedicated to PWM fans vs standard ones and b) Limit of the controllers power envelope.

It says 4x3pin connectors right in the description. If it can run the fan at 100% it should be able to run it at less than that. It's borked. Get what you paid for.

Meh, I've had it since October... never really used it til recently when I decided it ought to be used for more than just aesthetics. I'm going to do a little troubleshooting but it's not worth the hassle to return for a new one. If anything, I'll just buy a better controller down the road.

Quick questions, hopefully you guys can answer them for me.

I bought a 3D TV yesterday, and it's awesome. However, the Sony 3D bluray player I bought doesn't work very well (it doesn't recognize the 3D blurays I have purchased).

My first question, are there bluray drives I could add on to my computer that would play 3D blurays (using HDMI out on my GPU to my TV)? From what I understand, with a proper bluray drive and a 3D bluray program it will work. Is this correct?

Second, are there any streaming services that allow you to rent 3D movies?

Thanks guys!

There are 3D Bluray drives you can get for PC, but you also need a 3D capable GPU IIRC to play them in 3D.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure.
