Not sure if you are already at MEPS, but I had to deal with the same issues. The only answer for a guy like you is lots cardio (>1 hour a day, at least 3 days a week) and body weight exercises (pushups, situps, etc). It will torch the fat and prepare you for the fitness exams. Its a lot easier to convince them to let you have time to get within measurement when you beast the PT tests (that's how I managed it until my body "fit the mold").

Thanks for the tips, they've been letting me do pt and I do fine. 50 pushups and 53 situps. But they like me because in 3 months I've lost the 80 pounds. Now they're as surprised as I am that I'm stuck

The tape test is not that hard to pass. The only people who would fail it are those who would fail the PT test anyway.

My squat and deadlift are above average, while my bench is pretty much complete ****. I compete at 198. I'm not coming at you, I just think you're pretty much an idiot for thinking anybody who needs a tape test needs to be in superhero shape to pass it. I weighed in at MEPS at 198, rounded up, at 5'6". My tape test showed I had a 16" neck (this used to be like 17.5 in my wrestling days ) with a 36" waist.

If I weighed 150 than I would not have needed a tape test, seeing as the weight limit for my height is around 165 or so.

It's a wrestler trait, from what I've seen. My neck was sore for a week after the wrestling camp I attended.

Try interval cardio.. You can run at 30 minutes a day at the same pace everyday, and you won't lose weight after a while. You get good at it and your body gets used to the exercise. Just google interval cardio workouts, or PM me. They will help you lose weight the fastest compared to any other cardio workout, and burn the most calories.
