am I doing it wrong? I thought the infamous orings were supposed to make the bolt smoother....

You're good. The bolt will have some grab on the bolt guide. What are you waiting for? Take it out on the field!

Yeah, I was just kind of waiting till you got out and actually shot it. I don't want to start fixing problems if there is not one.

But I'm very needy.

Fair enough. I'll shoot it some this weekend hopefully.

Just bought a smaller bore barrel for my Axe (.678 Eigenbarrel), now I can finally install the Boss bolt!

I'm excited to see this thing rip. Time to stare at the clock until Saturday arrives

Shot it with my .685 bore, but I think that was still too big. Shot well, but a bit inconsistent. Gonna try with my new 682 when it gets here.

There's a BIG consistency difference between my Lurker .684 and .678. I think your .682 will yield better results.

Do the Boss bolts come with a manual that suggests what your dwell/pressure etc. should be when using the bolt? I know there have been a multitude of different setups posted in this thread for the Boss but I was curious if Boss provides a general setup guide when you purchase the bolt.

Thank you in advance.

One more question that just came to mind... I've heard it is better if you break in a new axe before installing any bolt upgrades, is there any truth to this?

Break in is break in. Does not matter if it is with the stock bolt or the Boss Bolt. So, go play and have fun.

Does the .678 Lurker work well for you? I have one being delivered tomorrow, kinda curious how this works with the Boss bolt

Yeah, it works great. A true underbore with a 9.5 inch control bore, it performs great.

Found the issue to my problem. And feel like a complete noob. Posting for the random chance that someone has the same thing happen to them.

I bought my axe used and it came with the XSV bolt (outside) and what I assumed was the stock bolt inside. Not knowing what a stock bolt looked like I switched them. Turns out it was an Eigenbolt, and when I switched them, that little metal washer w/ o-ring from the Eigenbolt got stuck on the bolt guide. I thought it was just part of it and how it was supposed to look. I put the XSV bolt on top of that o-ring. Hence why the bolt wasn't clearing the breach.

So, if that happens to you, there's one other thing to check before posting on PBN...

Quick question: Will it be 100% pointless to use the Boss bolt with stock barrel? I thought I'd have my Lurker by today but USPS lagged and I don't have it yet. Should I just use the stock bolt one more time?

I didnt read through all of the posts since there was a lot of them. But doesnt bore size really make a difference when using the boss bolt? because im planning on purchasing the infamous bolt with the bolt and bolt guide o-rings. Im getting rather cruddy efficiency with my stock bolt running 7.5 dwell. The reason why I ask is because im using a .689 sly.

All aftemarket Bolts work better with an underbore of .682 or smaller. But going to small will affect your FPS and how low you can go with your PSI.
