well just bought a used axe here. prev owner said it has about 10 cases. Dunno how much of that was shot with the boss infamous bolt. anyway here is my result:

dwell:3 ms
short spring
reg: 135-140 psi
back cap: 1.75 turn from 0
AVG FPS: 285
barrel: .685 with reballs

Now here is the kicker:

I polished the brass poppet.

dwell : same
reg: same
short spring
back cap: reduced it down to 1.5 turn
AVG FPS: 297
same .685 barrel with reballs

able to reduce tension in back cap (poppet) but has an increase in velocity. I also did the finger in breech test. Fired 3-4 times with finger in breech. I am convinced that it will pinch paintballs though i have none to test it with. now if i can just fix my wobbly asa......

Ideally thats a result of polishing the poppet, it reduced the drag between it and the housing so it can open/close with less resistance.

From this point, adjust your velocity with the reg now, not the back cap.

Got to use my Axe this past weekend finally. I've got the XSV bolt & Virtue redefined board. I shot two cases through it this weekend. For whatever reason the field was only filling to 2800psi, so I got around 5pods & a rotor every fill.
dwell:whatever the redefined is set stock
short spring
reg: 145-150 psi
back cap: 2-1/4 turns
AVG FPS: 288
barrel: .682 Freak kit

"The shade of the o-ring means nothing, it changes slightly from batch to batch. Going from the back forward. Small softer o-ring goes on the back of the bolt, One of the larger (you should have gotten a spare one) o-rings is next, then the small harder shock o-ring, then the shock spacer and your bolt tip should be on."

could someone please post a picture ?

Just got my Infamous bolt today, and figured I'd post a quick review in here.

Prior to last week, the only real hands on experience I had with the Axe was a couple years back when I got the chance to play with one for an afternoon before they were officially released to the public. Recently I was looking for an inexpensive gun to use in the offseason and keep for a backup, and judging by all the positive reviews the Axe was getting it seemed like a good buy. I bought a stock Axe and took it into the backyard to run some paint through it. The gun shot okay, but it had a little more kick than I remember.

After reading all the positive reviews of Boss' bolt, I ordered one and installed it in my Axe today. I am using the recommended settings (short spring, dwell at 3ms, pressure at 140psi) and was shooting Draxxus Recsport through a Dye UL with a very good paint-to-barrel match. Simply put, I was blown away by the change. Unfortunately I don't have a chrono to measure my velocity at the moment, but the Axe shot noticeably smoother than it did with the stock bolt. The best way I can describe the change is that the Infamous bolt gave the gun a very short snappy sort of "pop" shot, which reminds me a lot of my old NT. I'd highly recommend this upgrade to anybody with an Axe.

Thanks to Boss for the excellent product, and the quick shipping.

I'm using the xsv bolt right now with the long spring. (Still considering trying the medium). First question is the extra thicker oring replaced the back oring furthest from bolt tip correct? (For long spring)

The real question:
I am using a hp reg, should I be using a lp reg? I have my cousins but he sorta wants it back lol. I also have a new slp reg for the victory I had and traded for an axe.
Tldr: should I invest in a lp reg? Is the hp reg fine? Would there be any problems at all by using the SLP reg?
If you think a lp reg is the best choice what should the pressure range be for the reg?

Thanks in advance

An slp may starve the reg on an axe, but any lp around 450-550 would be fine. Nothing really wrong with an hp either, that's what I use and it works flawlessly

My Ninja set to 450 psi works perfectly on long streams of paint while holding a lane. (12.5 bps)

I used a SLP reg on my axe and had no problems. I still use my regular ninja reg set at 450 and everything good. My SLP I am using on my G6R....

But try it and hold a long stream and C how it does.

I just installed this bolt in my axe and adjusted dwell etc...won't be able to test with paint for awhile. question though: is the bolt supposed to be visible when viewing down the feedneck or did I install or wrong? there's maybe less then 1cm showing but I don't think there's enough space to get the paintball through. Thanks in advance.

I really never saw a great explaination on what the guide bolt o-rings due. I ordered a few sets and installed them last night. It seemed to quiet the noise down a little bit, but is that just what it is meant to do? Will these allow me to lower the PSI reg from 150? Last longer?

SirJono- Is the gun aired up when see bolt tip sticking out? When aired up the bolt does move back a little. So try that.

Pson- It just built to last longer, give better seal. Not meant to drop pressure on gun in any way. I have them and trying to break them to be honest. I have not lubed gun in 5 weekends of use and been prety impressed. I whent 7 weekends on regular stock orings until I got a slight pissing leak and lubed and stoped the light leak I had. So far these infamouse/XSV Boss guide rings seem more for durability and reliability.

Thanks

Are you seating it all the way back on the bolt guide? Can you push it back so it's not showing manually with your finger? (as if you were trying to pop it out the back)

Yes, and no. I'm pretty puzzled since when I pull it out and hold it beside the gun, the way the bolt guide and bolt are set up it seems like it wouldn't ever be able to clear the breach... anyone else have this issue or should you always be able to see right down the feedneck?

Have you tried shooting paint with it, or will they not even drop?

Works with the eyes off perfectly... but then I think it caps the BPS. With the eyes on I was getting random points in game where the gun wouldn't fire. one of those times as I was running from cover to bunker someone. didn't end well.
