Inserts?

I keep hearing my friends talk about the Freak Kit and what not ... I'm a new player and I know I don't need to know about this yet but it wouldn't hurt if i got some knowledge so --- what does the freak kit do and what are the numbers i see that are .681 and what not? and where do you put the inserts on the gun?

.681 is the ID of the insert, the insert goes into the barrel to change the bore of the barrel for better paint to bore matching.

The Freak barrel's back is oversized to fit the inserts inside it. Depending on the size of the paint, you slide in the insert that fits that paint size (.679-.695 for the regular Freak kit). It makes for a more accurate/efficient shot when your paint matches the barrel bore. That's essentially the point of the Freak kit. I have one myself and love it.

Much thanks guys. I understand now. But last thing, how do you determine which paint is the right size for the kit for you? Does the paint state it on the case or should you just test the paintball in every insert until one fits perfectly?

You want the paint to have a small tight fit, that it won't fall right through but takes a little to blow it out via your mouth.

Take the paint, pop it into the end of the insert, and blow on the end, like with a blow gun. If the ball shoots through, you should be good to go. You don't want the ball to just roll out of the insert without any resistance (that means you're overboring and defeats the purpose of utilizing a kit). I find that where I play (in Kentucky), I pretty much always use my .684 insert. The paint differs by region, weather, etc.

I use the Freak personally. I have a 12 inch All American tip and a 14 inch Freak tip. I've heard good things about the Deadlywind barrel though. You can't go wrong with either.

DW is DUMMY light because of the carbon fiber and fits freak & luxe inserts, making them super versatile

check sig pic, you'll feel like there's no barrel on at all, and more weight kills unless you have great endurance

Yeah. Never minded a heavier setup when playing back. Not the best obviously for a front player.
