Good work again Ryan.

I'm used to 1700-1800 shoots on my Timmys but I can't speak to how many my GEN4 can get. It just hit me I've never tested its efficiency. I'd expect it would be within the same general range as the rest of them which is fine with me. LOL

I need to be as light as possible for the sake of my hip anyways, so I don't want/need lug a complete box on me out there.

Well the mail man was kind enough to bring me an eigenvalve today

Eigenvalve installed. Will get some air later this week to tune it up and test it out.

Dropped in the valve last night and swapped the brass weight for the plastic on the ram. Worked wonders!! I'm reliably cycling at 40-45 psi. When I get to my local shop later or the field, I'll get it fine-tuned and try to report back if I remember. Thanks Lurker, this is an awesome product!!!!! My Empire II will see a lot more action now.

Aired up and had to run 80 psi on the LPR and 310 psi on the HPR to get it to chrono 275ish. Looks like Ive got some tinkering to do.

Yup. This was with the black insert installed. So I tried it with the brass insert. Got it down to about 290 on the HPR. But my brass insert was such a tight fit I had to sand the inner bore of the ram and then tap it in with a hammer and punch so thats never comming out of there again unless I drill it out. But Im still tinkering around with it to. For all I know I pinched a hose when I was putting the frame back on. I'll keep you posted on how it goes ryan.

The only other thing is I have to cut the springs by hand and face them off - I shoot for right around 7 coils but if i gave you an overly long one the spring force is a bit more.

A way to check this is where leaking begins as you turn the LPR up, since there is opening pressure on the poppet from the LPR at rest.

Since your LPR can go to 80 without leaking i suspect i gave you a bit much on the springage.

I'll give it a look. I just messed around with it alittle more and I got high 280's FPS with 70 LPR and 280 hpr. And theres definitely no leaking going when adjusting the lpr.

Alright, so got some rough numbers out of my Empire. I didn't have a tester available for hpr readings, and was just adjusting it for consistency. Pre-valve, I had the LPR at ~90psi (mini-gauge reading, so likely lower with an accurate reading) balanced with the HPR to give me consistency sitting around 280 FPS. After dropping in the ram with plastic insert and valve, and setting the mini-gauge to ~40psi I got consistent cycling and firing while ramping. I took it in to Hustle paintball and we got a digital read-out of 30 +- 2 psi (there was some floating, but no leak). The next day over the chrono this was shooting ~190 FPS. I turned up the HPR another 2 turns and then set the LPR to ~40-45 psi and was sitting consistently 275-280 FPS (a lot of the variation is due to shooting Spectrum at the local field). The gun felt great while shooting with a very snappy, slightly muted sound signature and less kick than my stock G6R. On a 3000 fill (68 ci) I was burning 1200-1500 psi roughly every hopper and 2 pods, so efficiency wasn't there (total Hopper and ~6 pods a fill). That being said, I had balanced the regs to feel for the lowest LPR setting I could get, and by no means got them tuned for efficiency.

Rock my ripper 3 every time I play. It's a beast already at 45~50 psi lpr and 230 hpr with no shoot down. What will this do for me? Unless I see a dramatic increase in efficiency I see no point. I fill my tank twice. One at the start and then another half way into the day of paintball. So again what will this do for me? Make me shoot rainbows? it seems everyone is sooo hung up on efficiency... I don't get it. It's like the only thing anyone cares about anymore.

this is for gen4 timmys( infamous, empire II). your ripper 2 is a gen 3. better effiecency means a smaller tank or very useful when no hpa is available. ( my local field only has co2, but i have a shoebox compressor and two tanks so this means i could shoot more paint).

i installed my new valve but have a leaky hose to fix before i can see results.

This poppet wont work in your ripper 2 as its a gen 3. This fits gen 4 (Empire 2, Infamous, and Ripper 3) and its the same thing its always been....everyone want the fastest, quietest, smoothest, most efficient shot.....perfectionism is the goal.

I meant ripper 3. Sorry

I don't see how 5 psi will make it smoother, the gains will be unnoticeable.
I don't see how 5 psi will make it faster, we play with caps.
And I don't see how 5 psi will be more quiet.
And I don't see how 25 more balls off a tank matters either as I don't go threw a tank in one game. If you do you just suck and try to compensate by laying down more than a case of paint a game.

Nobody said 5 psi. 15 would be quite large. My only question, is how are you getting your ripper to work at 45 Lpr

Any Timmy will work at 45psi. The questions however are...

1. Are you sure your gauge isn't a bit off?

2. How well is it operating?

The suggested LPR setting is not due to what the Marker requires. 80 PSI is what Humphrey (the solenoid manufacturer) says is the optimal operating range for the noid. You can run it a bit lower than that but at almost half of the ideal pressure the engineers suggest, you're sacrificing performance in some way. The lowest I run my Timmys is 60-65-ish PSI and that range offers consistent and reliable FPS reading of as low as +/- 1-3 over a chrono and getting almost 1800 shots off a full 68/4500.

In my experience setting a Timmy LPR at 55psi or lower requires a longer Dwell time which eats up more air and therefore shot count drops to about 1400 or so. For a Back-Mid Player that lays down paint to lock down lanes, that extra efficiency is very important and can make all the difference in closing out a match.

the lpr pressure for a gen 4 should be set between 55-65 psi. thats straight from the manual. however i run mine at 45~50 psi, dwell at 8.5, with aka scmIII and aka 2 liter plus at 285fps -/+1 over the chrono with no drop off when shooting streams of paint.

edit: i sweet-spot my regs everytime before i play for the day. the dial always ends up right between the 45 and 50 marks on my gauge.

You're forgetting that you're dropping 15-25 grams of reciprocating mass AND lowering the pressure, while gaining efficiency.

Finaly got a chance to pull my gun apart today to check the spring length and I got my second eigenvalve kit for my buddys gun yesterday so I was able to use his spring to compare lengths with mine and my spring was infact longer so I trimmed it and will test it out tomorrow.

Now another question ryan. When I got my first kit the valves top oring right behind the spring had a really loose fit when I got it and when installed my valve wouldnt move so I swaped that oring for a 009 (I think. It was the propper size for the groove I took it off my stock valve.). was that oring supposed to fit so loose? cause when I got the new kit in yesterday it had the same loose oring as my first kit did and I just wanna be sure that swapping that oring isn't causing my issue.

So after clipping the spring down I got the preassures alittle lower Im at 65-70ish psi on the LPR and 270 on the HPR. However Im still not getting any leaking when adjusting the LPR higher like you said it would so Im guessing its maybe still to long?
