My Empire2 shoots well with the lightened ram, though it took me a long time to get it tuned correctly.
I'd be interested in the upgrade for it. I use it as back-up and my wife shoots it when she comes out, so it sees plenty of action.

In older models the spring AND the pressure from the HPR close the valve, in gen4's it's almost entirely the spring.
Float is the exact opposite of the issue related to purging (read below.)
When it was released they had a delrin cap/cup seal on the poppet, if air got past the cap into that chamber it took more force to open the valve (tension of the spring + compressing the air in the chamber.) The revised brass poppet eliminated that issue.

thanks for the reply. Still trying to understand it though
But going back to topic, if it would make the gen 4 shoot better then I would get one for the infamous.

Newbie question: So if I have a gen4, stock everything(assuming its already got that brass poppet), issue is valve float? or its going to be only an issue if I swap rams? thanks

Personally Lopez,
The only issues I ever encountered with Ryan's Ram on the GEN4 was the spring supplied with it. The spring was a cut down section and the side that was cut maintained the angle and thus cocked sideways a bit which kept the Poppet from moving perfectly straight. Though my GEN4 is Bone Stock and never had a single issue with any of the Poppets and I never felt it needed anything else to improve its performance, I did have a few people send me their GEN4's that had the Eigenram and I tore them down, cleaned and re-lubed everything and then adjusted the cut end of the spring so it allows the Poppet to move fairly straight and their issues disappeared. I spoke with Ryan about this so he's aware. If this Poppet improved the GEN4's performance I'd look into getting one simply because I am not a fan of the Brass Poppet barely holding the center O-ring in place (can't say I've ever blown mine off). I've often thought about a more Alias-Like Poppet in there instead that didn't present with any of the issues the initial two Delrin ones presented for some.
As forValve Float issues on the GEN4's I find that using Dow33 instead of 55 keeps things slicker without any of the swelling and the floating issue should not arise.

My 2k6 is still my primary, but honestly since I finally gave up and sold my eigenram I have had zero issues and the upgrade would have to be pretty significant to interest me.

As a seller this idea is a plus! I would love to pick some up and install them on the gen4 I have to resell. When I do sell gen4 most of the new owner issues include the Poppit oring getting out of place. Would love a remedy for this and I'm highly interested vato! I normally sell gen4 locally because owners don't READ the manual at all and I can fix them at the field or they drop them off.

If the user blows the center o-ring off, just switch it out and go down a size from a 010 to a 009. One of the major issues with people blowing that o-ring off is that they're not gassing up the marker correctly.

aside from purging the valve on air up,
is there another form you're referring to?

Yes. With the brass poppet you don't need to purge the valve. That's only for the delrin poppet.
Most people gas the marker up and the air goes through the HPR into the LPR and slams into the noid and poppet closing them. This gush of hard air isn't gradual and tends to blow the middle poppet o-ring free.
Ideally, you should gas up a Gen4 but backing both regs out to flush. Then screw the HPR in a turn or two to let the air in and then slowly adjust the LPR so you don't have that hard gush of air against the poppet o-ring. Set it to your desired psi pressure. Then adjust over the chrono to the desired velocity. This method is softer on the poppet.

^^^^The problem is new owners don't understand it has to be done every time you use it. They think once you reset your regs you can use it every time without doing it anymore.

I can say with all honesty I never back out the regs on my GEN4 and it airs up just fine every single time. I've never had any issues the required me purging the original valve either, nor with the 2nd Delrin Poppet. The one time it blew off the Center Poppet O-ring was due to my boneheaded friend that borrowed it and thought it was a good idea to doubt my word and decided to tear it down and lube it up according to his standards which entails globbing loads and loads of lube on every single O-ring and moving part and upon airing it up countless times it gushed air uncontrollably. He called me up and I knew instantly what he had done. I told him to bring it over to take a look at it knowing full well I'd find a complete tube of Dow33 in it and boy did I. LOLOLOL
Before opening it up I looked at him and said, you know what the problem is here?... YOUR *******!!!!
He said Me??!?!?!? I said yup! I bet you I find tons of lube inside the Marker. With that dumb look idiots get when they realize they've been caught but still try to deny everything, he says not me? I said Oh really?
Sure enough I remove the left side panel from the frame and the first thing I notice is lube in the hoses. Then I remove the front block and when I look at the Rocket Valve Cap, I immediately see globs of lube covering every last mm of surface including the cap itself! LOL It went further but in the end I simply tore it down, scrubbed the entire thing with palmolive and a toothbrush, dried it and then Lubed it Properly. I showed him how to properly lube things, constantly emphasizing the importance of the word "Sparingly" and explained why all that excess lube was counter productive and how few surfaces actual contact one another. I aired it up and voalah!
I tell you, I've never seen a more unintelligent person in my life.
