Okay guys, here's the deal. I had this coat listed a few months ago and had a lot of offers, but also a lot of people asking me what it was made of and everything else. I went to the Alaskanfur KC store today to learn about this coat before my golf lesson.
I learned that this coat is made anywhere from 1950-1972, but the guy almost guaranteed that it was made between 1958 and 1962. It is made from Pastel Mink and leather and is a stroller style coat with a belt built in. I would gladly give you the information to contact the store and the name of the person that looked the coat over for me if you have any questions about the authenticity. The hanger is a 1950s Alaskanfur hanger and the employee stated that they simply "DO NOT give these hangers out for any reason." He graded the coat as flawless and even said that if I wanted to spend some money on it to clean it up, I could, but there is really no reason at all for me to do that. He said that the coat is immaculate, and even "smells good." He valued the coat, depending on the market, at approximately $1,200.
My story with the coat goes like this: The coat belonged to my great grandmother Retha. The coat was bought for her (possibly by my great grandfather who I never met) in the 50s or 60s. I'm not sure why but the coat remained almost totally untouched, and as far as the employee checking over the coat could tell it had never been worn. This coat has been sitting in my house for a few years, and I've decided that something needs to be done with it. It needs to go somewhere it will be appreciated.
The coat fits probably like a small more than anything. There is no labeling for a size, and I know that complicates things. Someone who fits in a medium can fit this coat but the sleeves will be slightly small and short. This is how the 50s style sleeves are.
I've found a few vintage Russian furs on other sites for around $3,000 but no one is buying them. I'll start this beauty at $600 DROP TO $350 and will be quite negotiable. PLEASE don't hesitate to offer on this within reason. Get your wife something nice. She'll let you buy more stuff after that.
PRICE: $350 PLEASE READ THE WHOLE POST.
PM me and I will respond as quickly as possible. I really want to get this coat sold.
There was some confusion in my family as to which coat this was, so in order to bypass all that I went directly to the store today 10-6-2012
