The way they shot it really annoyed me and it was partially to avoid the dreaded R rating. Everything was shaky cam bull****. Super close ups during fight scenes making it extremely boring to watch. No thank you.

I didn't like how the did the very beginning of the Hunger Games. When they stepped into the Cornucopia, it was too shaky and hard to tell what was going on.

I never read the book, but that shouldn't matter because this is a movie.


I thought it was pretty boring. That doesn't mean I Think it's a bad movie though. I can see it is a decent movie, but I didn't really get into it. Ended up being a bunch of emotional teen girl bull****, which is what I was hoping it wouldn't be.

Read the book, its way better and all the "emotional teen girl bull****" will make more sense.

I don't understand where people are getting this idea. There is romance. OH MY GOD ITS TWILIGHT or whatever. No. There is just a romance that in the grand scheme of things has nothing to do with the movie or books.

While watching the movie, it was apparent that this has a target audience consisting of teenagers, especially girls. It's all just so tame.



Hey, I'm a person who has been raised from childhood to be a trained killer. Don't mind me, I'm just going to sleep all night and leave my prey in the tree above me. Forget about sleeping in shifts, or simply burning the tree down.

Like I said before, I can see that this is a decent movie, but I really have no interest in it. I honestly liked it right up until the actual "game" started. I liked Katniss, and Haymitch, but once the games started that's where I stopped giving a ****.

It's just so hard for me to suspend my disbelief when I see a 12 year old kid bum rushing the Cornucopia. How does this little **** even think that is a good idea? Was he trained to be the first casualty?



Also, don't tell me to read a book to make up for a movies faults. This is a cinematic adaptation of a book. I don't care about the book, I care about the movie itself. I shouldn't HAVE to read a book before hand to appreciate a movie.

Having read the book, there are definitely things in there that make the movie muchhhhhh more clear.

For instance, your sleeping in shifts reference. They were, one ****ed up.

And the "teen girl bull****". It doesn't really exist. It's playing to the crowd, which in turn plays to the sponsors. In the book it's much more directly mentioned as it's in Katniss' inner monologue. In the book she's very up front in her thoughts about it.

I think Gary Ross did a great job taking a book which is SO defined by it's inner monologue, and translating it to the big screen but I agree that having read the books you walk away with a lot more since you catch the visual representations of those thoughts a lot easier.

The good news is it was solid enough that I'm excited about the next in the series. It's, again, a lot of her monologue translated but I think you'll pick up on it a lot more.

saw this finally tonight at my local theater. glad i saw it there for $5 instead of the usual 10. Movie wasnt bad, but I was expecting more. All of the fighting could have been done a lot better. Actually after they first were all brought to the battlefield is when it stopped getting interesting to me.

Good news for the sequel:

Gary Ross has bowed out of “The Hunger Games” sequel, citing time constraints for his exit.

His role in “Catching Fire” has been subject to much speculation in recent days, and late Tuesday, he and Lionsgate issued statements announcing his exit from the adaptation of Suzanne Collins' book.

"As a writer and a director, I simply don't have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule," Ross said, calling the decision a difficult one.

The director's choices were a major issue with it so hopefully they will pull a Harry Potter and get a better director for the later movies and the quality will skyrocket.
