wire vs ball detents

Help me understand the advantages and disadvantages of having a wire detent vs ball detent.
I have only had cockers with a ball detent in the past, but am considering getting a body with a wire detent.

Wire lasts longer, and isn't susceptible to being overtightened and munching the bolt and or detent. They're easier to clean, and a bit cheaper too.

The downs is that little screw has weak threads that can cross-thread pretty easily if you're not careful.

I've only had wire - I never had an issue, and think it looks cleaner than the ball detent.

I like wire detents better. They last forever and look better than ball detents.
