Wink Spimmy HELP!(body modifications)

Okay guys, im going to build a spimmy. I found a nice vert feed Piranah body to start on. The first thing I need to kno is what exactly needs to be done to this body, before I start buying all the parts!

Okay so after a lot of sanding and drilling with an electric drill I have the top of the body slotted the bottom of the body ready and I have almost all the parts I need....

I traded trigger guards, more body modification(detents on both sides) and added the LPR/Reg/trigger etc...

trigger electronics installed, waiting for 2 orings and two barbs to finish this

just picked up this dye barrel for 15$ via facebook

FINISHED weeee

Throw it away and buy a timmy.

That would be a good start for the price it's going to take to buy all the parts and do it yourself. It's common practice to part those guns out because you can get more money instead of selling the whole gun.

However, if money isn't a big deal, you'll need to slot the top of the body for the bolt and drill holes for eyes and eye cover screws. You're best off getting the eye covers first and using that as a template for the holes. I'd also address the feedneck. I don't know if those are removable and if there are locking feednecks if you can take them out. You might have to cut that and size it for an ego feedneck if there is enough material there to start with.

lol throw it away are you kidding? I have more then enough money to buy a timmy and iv owned over 10 different timmys in my day. but I wana build my own....that's why im in the voided warranty section..

Ok so now that we have that out of the way. Top slotted for bolt.. eye holes.

do I need to do anything on the bottom of the body or will a ram sleev just slide into the bottom tube?

im not worried about the feedneck for now. I wana get the body modifications down before I start buying parts. so for now JUST what needs to be done to the body for it to accpect timmy parts.

I'm running on the assumption that the pirahna body is to the same specs as the spyder bodies, with regards to the inner dimensions. With that said, the sleeve would slide in the lower tube without modification.

You'll need to get dimensions of some of those parts so you know how big and far forward that slot needs to go. You'll also need to look up the diameter of the eyes. I don't recall off hand but they should be just under 5mm.

To the point about buying a timmy, that still might be your best bet to get all the parts you need while spending less money. Then just swap the bodies after you're done making the mods.

I f you are not super set on that body or the 2k5 frame, I have a T1 spimmy project that I will not get around to. It has most of the parts required and the body is already set up for a top cocking bolt.

Not sure if I can post this, so if its not I will remove.

Read this:

http://www.freewebs.com/vikesbuildaspimmy/welcome.htm

If you use a 2k5 frame, you'll probably need to mill out the bottom tube to accommodate the top of the board and solenoid.

Let me know if you have any more questions:

If I'm not mistaken you need to make sure the ram sleeve isn't going to be too small. Piranhas use a fatty striker.

its fine if its too big, I just don't want it to be too small for obvious reasons.

I use to have that same Piranha back in the day. I've never made a Spimmy before, but I have timmy parts if you need them.

Make sure to get a clamping feedneck, other than that, it's looking good.

its not really nessicary..my revy fits this feedneck perfect. I havnt checked with my invert2 or z2...but as long as I can slot the other side for a detent I should be fine. I wana find another detent cover like the one that comes with the prianah anyone think I have a chance in hell at finding another one?

who makes the piranha pmi?

If you ever wanted to use another loader, you could mill out the inside a little, cut some slots it, and mill out some space for a clamp ring.

Better than having to shave down a hopper's neck.

Looks like a cool Spimmy (or a Pimmy since it's a piranha)!

If you really want to rip on it in uncapped semi or anything over a consistent 12 bps, you're going to need a force feed loader; the necks on most are too wide for stovepipe feednecks. If you're not considering going over 12 bps consistently, then the current feedneck should work fine.

If you're keeping the revvy and running it blind, then the single detent will work well enough, since there will be no force on the stack. If you do want to run a force feed loader, then a second detent is highly recomended. KEE makes piranhas, they were made under the PMI brand when that particular model came out, now they're just branded as piranha.

If you're installing eyes and timmy covers, make sure to have it drilled and tapped by a machinist or know very well what you're doing with a drill press; it should be threaded #2-56 IIRC not #4-40 as some guides state.

Again I'm not worried about the feedneck I have my revy and if I really need to I will sand my invert 2 neck and just slot the other side for a detent. Gonna keep it blind. I could add eyes but I'm not worried about it. Just finding another detent cover worries me.

I checked it with my invert. Its just a little bit to big. Prolly will sand the inside of the neck to make it fit rather then my loader since I still use it with my shocker. If I am bored one day I will sand the neck down slot it and then buy a ccm clamp ring.

So far I'm only 60$ and a halo invested in this gun+about 3 man hours. I figure after I get the rest of the parts this gun will cost me 100$ not bad if you ask me.

hey guys, question

I have a 2k5 front block, and it seems to fit inside the body perfect, and then I can set screw on the bottom to make sure it doesn't move....do I need to do any modifications? I can take a pic if needed.
