Are you <del>****</del>ing kidding me?
Went to my oring supplier and bought a complete fresh set of orings for the viking, including the metric ones inside the noid.
Switched out everything, and magically viking is back to working 100%, have no clue what the problem was.
Get air today and start to tune viking, setting at dwell 9, lpr 68, 2 liter somewhere around the 200 range. Shoots 285 +/-2 for about four pods.
Put in one last pod before I pack it up for x-ball tomorrow and hear a strange noise about 3 shots into the pod, bolt is stuck forward but gun still shoots when I pull the trigger.
Ended up with this:
Are you <del><del><del><del>****</del></del></del></del>ing kidding me right now?
This has been the project from hell getting this thing running again, I have never had anywhere near this many problems with a gun before.
I have never even heard of a viking ram shaft breaking before.
I am completely <del><del><del><del>****</del></del></del></del>ing done at this point, I'll get it back to running but its going up for sale. Whole thing has turned into a complete nightmare.

Is this a RTvalve? I've read about it happening to some RT... And it did happened to the stock ram of my Excal. Don't drop it already, you just got it back to good state, pretty much.
edit: Thread when it happened to my excal.. See Dan's comment at the bottom...

LOL. That was good for my car, but won't do it here. I'd still be curious to see how many shots it'd stand.

Let me clarify on what i said...when i said we dont know why..it's not for lack of knowledge...there have been so few that have broken, compared to what have been sold...that's why i say that. There can be many reasons why it broke..it's just a rare thing

Dude, calm down. Drink a beer. Then just order another one. Seriously, I think you'd kick yourself for selling it. You don't need the cumulative seller's remorse of what.. 90+ guns coming down on you for the sale of this one.

Could it be the front of the ram was tightened too much from the factory so it was sticking the back of the ram? And others that are right have a tiny gap between?
I can make you another one perhaps?

Jared already took care of him...some things it could have been...bolt pin being forced in, throwing the ram off square so it wore one side...bad top cap of the ram, so it rode funny...and a few other things...but i think it has been narrowed it down

They do have a tiny gap. They were made slightly longer to reduce the contact to prevent this issue.

I do study failure analysis for work and judging just from the picture the break pattern does represent fatigue failure meaning something was wrong for a while, most likely it being to tight or slightly bent

Jared said something had been off for quite a while as the type 3 anno on the shaft and front of ram cartridge was wore off.
Unfortunately I am the one the has to deal with it and pay for it and I haven't even been able to get a case of paint through it yet
New RT parts, new cartridge front and a stock bolt pin are going to be on there way so hopefully I can finally get this beast running.
