Really depends on how you play and the weather, if you only play woodsball I would say just get a lid because there is less chance of you losing paintballs than with a speedfeed and a lot of the time you don't really need to reload that fast while you're shooting.

Actually, a Rotor with the lid+speedfeed combo makes sure that if your lid gets caught on something and pops open with your gun upside-down or sideways, you don't lose the paint in your hopper.

I roll with a speedfeed under my lid and that thing has paid for itself 10 times over.

i understand but you get what i mean. the speed feed was made so you dont need to open a lid to reload

I've used speedfeeds for turf for a while now, Honestly its the best to use because of diving/sliding and no need to flick the lid.. I switched to the lid cause i just like it.. i save more paint cause speedfeeds don't feed every single little ball in and it's not much of a problem other then the fact that i play snake.. which causes me to open it up when diving.. not the best but it rarely happens. Most of the time it depends on how you dive/slide
