Are you constantly crawling/playing in bad weather/dropping your gun in dirt and water? If the answer is "no" get a speedfeed.

Both. Depending on what I am playing, where and the weather where I am playing, and what I am doing when I am playing.

I do like speedfeeds way more than lids though.

I was a diehard speedfeed fan for YEARS... I got a rotor, and the lid was perfect, never used a speedfeed again after I got my rotor.

id say lid just because in the woods its usually easier to get crap in the hopper then on the speedball field.

Id say get a speedfeed, I personally use the stock lid here when its raining on my rotors but they tend to open up alot really easily causing me to dump half my hopper. When the weather is good I use my exalt speedfeed for the rotor. They dont let any paint out but the downside is they dont like to let paint in, gotta give the whole marker setup a good couple shakes.

I play woodsball, and I use the stock lid. I guess I do have an A5, so I can't really get a speedfeed that works correctly...
My Revvy also has the lid, but I guess I don't need to reload too much.
For an expensive hopper, the lid will protect the insides from water, dirt, and sand.

thanks guys, my conclusion is that you would just have to try a speed feed and if in the middle of the day you dont like it just switch sense rotors are so easy to work on.

Definitely a preference call. For airball I definitely want one, it's a huge help given the pace of the game and the need to be able to reload "gun up." For woodsball, I'd probably rather have a lid.

I went for the most expensive solution to this conundrum, bought myself an open-class pump gun. Now I don't need to reload mid-game in the first place.

its really personal preference, whether airball or woodsball. Unless you are taking your gun swimming or literally burying yourself the amount of dirt that actually gets in there is very small and doesnt really effect anything.

This. I play with the Rotor and stock lid no matter what type of game.

If you're playing woodsball you don't really NEED speedfeed.

Some things I don't like about speedfeeds:

1) Broken paint/hits can go into the hopper and you have a big mess and lost paintballs.

2)You run/move and can lose paintballs.

Speedfeeds do have their advantages too but for MOST people, not necessary. Definitely try and play with both and see for yourself.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable, go with it.

I would never play outdoors in the rain. If I did, I'd use a lid.

Otherwise.. Speedfeed all day, every day.

I am never in such a hurry to reload in woodsball that I can't spare the extra quarter of a second to open the lid first. I like the idea that nothing can get into my loader that I don't put there.

Plus there was the time where I went to the 50 on the snake off the break, popped up, and put 3 balls on a guy -- one of them directly down the hatch of his speed-fed Rotor. It took him awhile to cleanup that mess...

thats what I do when I play pump. If I'm using an electro and shooting more paint i'll stick to just my speedfeed. The spine works really well since there arent as many gaps where crap can fall in

Lid if there is chance of rain/mud/whatever getting into your hopper. Otherwise a speedfeed.

Lid otherwise. I have 2 Empire Bs just for this, one with lid, one without.
