I am not going to try to be rude to anyone.
(This is what I think)
Why airsoft players think paintball is a bad sport
-It's not realistic
Why paintball players think airsoft is a bad sport
-There is not enough action
My opinions on each sport
AIRSOFT
-It's fast paced if you move up
PAINTBALL
-It can be realistic if you have a good load-out, a magazine fed weapon and a remote coil
I find these sports equal, and believe people should not argue over them.
Thanks.
how is that not true... didn't say it wasn't good for older ppl I just said it was good for my kids to start out before paintball...
Eh I guess. But you can always turn down a Paintball gun to shoot 150fps. Then again if I had a 7 year old I'd probably let him play lazer tag before Airsoft.
Such a pointless thread, I'm sorry. I know you want to avoid the flaming, but they are two different games. Seriously the only reason keeping me from playing airsoft is the reliability in internals. I could careless about which one has more action, or is more realistic.
Im going to the food subforum and start a thead called "Soup VS Pasta"
THEY ARE BOTH DELICIOUS!
ITS JUST PERSONAL PREFERENCE!

Depends on the soup vs pasta. If you put Manhattan clam chowder up against raviolis you're going to lose every time.
Airsoft to me is something you play in your front yard. Not saying it's not as fun as paintball but in that view it is taken a little less serious than paintball.

Yeah, definitely taken less serious than Paintball.
(If you meant you personally take it less serious, than disregard the sarcasm and enjoy the video)

true dat i played in my front yard no cops i shoot i dry shot trough my paintball gun to scare the other team ok maybe 3 or 4 shoots coops cam eon the paintball gun even wiht a oragne tip
As a person who plays both airsoft and paintball, it really depends on what you're looking for.
There is a small percentage of airsofters who can truly claim the "realism" part. Yea, sure, the weapons look real and you can wear camo, but when they play it's pretty much speedball. There's no coordinated fireteam movement or anything. For these types of airsofters, the only real argument they have is that it is "cleaner" because of no greasy paint, and ammo is cheaper. Most of the airsoft games here end up being speedball, or a big clusterf*ck of people standing around corners and shooting because they're wearing too much military gear for their out-of-shape bodies can handle. They're just fooling themselves with the "realism" argument. True milsim players treat it like actual combat. Those games are the most fun, however the cost barrier to entry for these games are high because it usually means you need tip-top weapons and gear to keep up with these other players who take it seriously (bunch of mags only loaded to 30rds and whatnot, high quality radio for fireteam coordination, etc).
I love paintball. At the public games, you are pretty much guaranteed a very dynamic and fastpaced game. Cost barrier to entry is really low. You can get a good quality marker for a hundred or two. Long term cost is higher because paintballs cost a bunch.
Cheating exists in both airsoft and paintball. It is a little easier to catch in paintball. With referees now in both sports, it's been a lot better. As for the manly/macho argument of paintball hurts more, that's really a moot point nowadays. Tons of new players both wear armor in paintball and airsoft. The intermediate/advanced players in both sports usually play with slightly hotter guns if the fields allow, and more streamlined kit for better mobility.
It really depends on what you're looking for. I prefer milsim airsoft because it helps me reinforce the movements and handling of the real deal(assuming you have a high-end airsoft gun). I would do paintball more often if the RAP4 weapons were more reliable. For now...Tippmann!

So it turns out that speedball style airsoft is played pretty regularly in the Philippines, while in the USA there is an airsoft league called the ACA which looks pretty cool.
Ultimately both airsoft and paintball will be made redundant and effectively merged by a high level augmented reality + laser tag type system. That's pretty much guaranteed if A.R. tech carries on like it is. That's still a decade or more away however. Meantimes I'll happily watch the PSP webcast and play the odd game of airsoft

I play both. Paintball is better for me because every gun is shooting relatively the same speed.
More of my friends play airsoft but Airsoft tends to have the hopeless military nerds that think they know everything. Paintballers take everything less serious.

100% agree, but also i prefer paintball because i get more of a rush

Id have to agree, i love both games equally, but in Airsoft you have all the wanna be soldiers, or military rejects who think they know everything, and trust me, i have gotten in lots of arguments with people at airsoft games trying to tell me stuff about my Unit in the Army, when they are dead wrong, in paintball no one gives a crap.
