Naughty Dogs to Hellwood Intimidator

I want to know if there's a way to convert a Naughty Dogs timmy to a Hellwood timmy. Essentially put back what was taken from the body.

If I strip the paint, what type of material can be used to fill the milling in the ND? I know some material can't be anno'd over. What's the alternative here?

Thanks.

EDIT: If anyone can find the dimensions, I'll love you long time.

You need to clarify.

So you want to strip the anno off the body, build up the material that was machined to make it a Naughty Dogs and then re-anno it?

Sounds like you need to sell it and buy the style you want.

As you've said, the added material won't annodize correctly after it has been added.

This addition of material would require someone to clean up the aluminum, add aluminum using a TiG, then machine it down to match what you want it to look like.

^^ this.

It wont look right filling in the milling with weld. Even if you machine it afterwards, you will be able to tell. plus, those spots wont take anno the same way the body will, so you will be able to see it in the anno too.

It it would be an awful amount of work just to get a new looking body.

There were like 20 or less hellwoods so buying that gun isn't that easy.

If you were to fill it in with weld, machine it, then have it anodized in a splash or other pattern that isn't so solid you should minimize the uneven anodizing.

Yeah, Hellwood cannot be bought.

Thanks for the information so far guys. If I decide to do this, I'll update you with a work log.

strip the anno, fill the paw in with weld, sand it down even, then look into a coating (cerakote, duracoat, etc) so as to hide the area.

ya cerakote or duracoat would cover it just fine with no discoloration

If you could get in touch with someone who has that body, You could get the dimensions from the existing body, recreate it in a modeling program such as AutoDesk Inventor or Solidworks, and then have a machinist mill you a new body.

It would be easier to just machine a new one then to destroy a nd or find one of these bodies.

Hmm, you think so? I'll look into the cost of that.

That's the thing, I've been trying to find someone who has one for a while. There are none on PBN, unless I missed it.

Yes it would be. the hellwood is fairly plain and wouldn't require much machining time in comparison to other bodies

why not just machine the pawprints flatter? it seems to be easier to just take material off rather than try to go the harder route and add metal back.

if you have a ND timmy, and are looking to get a hellwood,

you said it yourself the ND and the hellwood are the same,

you have the dimensions in your hands.

This has definitely crossed my mind, but it just wouldn't be the same.

Just wondering, why are you doing this? The Hellwood wasn't that good looking IMHO, and you won't be able to say it's an actual Hellwood....No disrespect, just wondering.

Now, if you could get a ripper type style out of it, then THAT would be something, hahaha!

I wouldn't look into machining your own body. The people that are given these suggestions probably haven't worked in a machine shop and do not know the costs involved. Machine run time is a small portion of the cost for a single, one off item.

There was a guy a few months ago in the timmy forum talking about doing this. He did the modeling, contacted shops and then was surprised when they wanted something like $500+ to do one body.

Do you know who it was? I don't really have a budget limit.

I'm doing it for something to do, to see if I can do it. . I could always call it a fakewood. I've owned almost every intimidator, and a real hellwood is too difficult to obtain.

I don't recall his name but you should be able to find it in the timmy forum. The guy had all the renderings and should have had the specs. The main design was going to have the trucker girl on the sides of the body.
