If it fry's (most likely due to rain, since it's just a monitor type part) I imagine that Virtue will issue you a new one.

The software from what I saw in the captains meeting in Vegas makes it really easy to look at your stats and compare yourself and your team with others.

They check for it in the chrono station using a laptop station before you even get on the field. It checks that you are the player that belongs to that chip and that the chip is functioning normally. If you don't have it installed then you cant even get on the field with that marker. You will start a man down.

The NPPL will be selling extra chips if players want to have more than one marker set up to be used at the events.

The chip getting wet is unlikely since it is inside of your grip frame, if it gets wet in there then you got to replace your board as well. While it isn't stated I assume like all Virtue products that there is a lifetime warrenty on the chips but calling and asking Virtue will give you the best answer on that.
