Its really a matter of preference. The G4 is obviously cheaper and they both can shoot ~30 bps (fx settings need to be tweaked to do it). Fx is more air efficient and easier to maintain. G4 is quieter and has less kick. As far as upgrades go, they both have some pretty great upgrades out there but i feel the FX shows more potential when upgraded. The fx tends to have more out of the box issues, but anyone on here can easily help u out with either marker if u run into a problem. The G4 is probably better for winter play bc the fx is a fasor poppit (fasors in general dont like the freezing weather elow like 40 degrees or so and i believe even the g4 will have some issues in weather as cold as the 20s bc the paint will become so brittle). The fx does have the OLED board standard on it though. I love it, some would disagree and say its buggy and glitches but i never had a problem.
So you cant really go wrong with either marker. Its just whichever fits your playing style.

If you are talking straight for straight I believe the G4 to be the better and safer purchase.

ill be buying stock, i just want something that will work in cold weather and warm weather both for speedball/woodballs play, probaly no upgrades, so all stock on both.

Well either is a good decision. If you decide to go upgrade later on they both have some good potential upgrades.
Like stated above, the G4 may be the better option to start with as it works better out of the box with fewer problems.

G4 sounds a better bet for u then. Like i said FX has arguably more potential but if u just plan on staying stock the G4 will probably take better care of u for ur needs

I have a G3, and I really cant imagine maintenance getting much easier than it is. I thought the FX would be more of a pain in the butt to take care of. Why is the G4 harder to maintain than a poppet?

I have a G4 and it works amazing! And from what I heard, the FX murders batteries fast.
So I'd say go with a G4 for sure.

FX is pretty much a failure, avoid it.

My fx is on a 45/4500 tank and i get about 7-8 pods per fill. And as far as batteries go i get about 10 cases per a battery (not bad considering it has an OLED screen to keep powered)
