This club is for ballers with diabetes. I made this because i saw that there were actually quite a few people on PbN with diabetes. We can talk about whatever you want that has to do with diabetes or paintball... or diabetes mixed with paintball.

Type 1, was diagnosed at 13, found out cause i lost so much weight and almost passed out w/ drink a galon of water and hour.

got it when i was 12 was going to the doctor to get growth hormones when they found something and sayed to get it checked out and they found out i had diabetes.

diagnosed two years ago, when i was 14

drank a bunch of water, starting throwing up alot, etc, went to hospital

i drink gatorade in between games, keeps my sugars from dropping and they dont go high from all the exercise.. also check when you need to, dont be afraid to take a break when you start feelin low.

*How you found out: got really sick and went to the hospital; after several hours in the ER some doctor comes in and verbally kicks me in the nuts "you've got diabetes"

stay away from the sugar and carbs. splenda is your friend.
drink those glucerna shakes....taste good initially but leave a nasty after taste.

*When you were diagnosed: When I was 3 yrs old, going on 25yrs now with it
*How you found out: Thirsty all the time, frequent urination. Mom suspected something was wrong and took me to the Doctor.
*Tips on how to keep your sugar levels normal: Depends on the person honestly, I try to maintain a somewhat decent diet, I do not eat candy or anything with sugar, I'm always monitoring my blood sugars. I also am now using a pump, finally grew tired of 5-6 injections a day.

I am curious to know if anyone else out there is using the pump?
Have you tried playing while wearing it?
What have you found to be the best infusion location while playing?

I'm not on the pump, but I know a feel people that play with them on. They use the stomach for the site. Just make sure your pack is going to cover it. I think they put the pump in a sock or something padded, then throw it in their pants pocket.

Funny you ask that I just finshed taking to the Mini med (insulin pump company) rep and I have needed one for a few years and with insurance it still is $1100 bucks. I would not think about wearing it during play, especially if you slide and play hard, not worth the risk.

hey i have type 1, i found out last october after a week of throwing up i passe out and my mom took my to the hospital, and within a few minutes they told me i had diabetes...after that i was in ICU for a week. I'm 14 now...i use NovoLog and Lantus

*Tips on how to keep your sugar levels normal: A lot of exercise; I try to bike, swim and play paintball whenever I can. I also eat low fat high protein meals with long lasting carbohydrates to prevent any spiking.

Diagnosed: 9 years ago (age 11)
How you found out: overly thirsty, and constant urination lol. Also my sister also has type 1 so my mother saw the symptoms and became curious.
Tips on how to keep it down: stay hydrated! And eat something, even if its not much.
What you shoot: ego8, etek3

Wow didnt know there were so many of us! Its great to see everyone trying to help one another and sharing info that helps. I dont care who you are you wont understand how it is until you have it. Doctors, parents, ect say its easy if you do what your spose to but its not easy, its another full time job...exept your life depends on this one. Just want to throw some support to those of you fighting with it too . Just another thing thats makes you stronger!
