I frequent Hobbytalk.com and RCTech.net .
Both have good B/S/T sections with RCtech being more active. HT has the classifieds seperated into different catagories ( off road, oval, electronics etc).
As with any online site, look out for scammers. It happens everywhere.
If you're looking for new, Towerhobbies.com is good.
We've had issues with RCplanet.com . I'm not dealing with them again.
I race carpet oval and clay off road.
Am also in the market for a buggy.
The Losi 22 is Sweeet! my buddy just got one off of RCTech.
Buggies have exposed shock towers and can break if you land upside down ont them. Trucks have the body to protect the components.
Plan on batteries, charger, radio etc as well.
The RTR stuff seems good. Both Losi and Team Associated have brushless buggies that come with everything but the charger and batt.
