there are two things wrong with mask mounter cameras that i see. first, if its mounted on top of your head you see what the player is seeing for the most part. the problem comes when you bring your gun up to shoot and the camera gets filled with the back of your hopper, blocking off any view of your target. second, is when the camera is mounted on either the left or right side of the mask. that solves the hopper blocking your view issue but brings up its own problem. if mounted on the right side and your shooting out of the left side of your bunker (and vice versa), again its blocking off a whole lot of view.

the best solution is what vijil suggested. and thats having two cameras on you at a time. but im not spending $600 on two cameras

I picked one up in Huntington Beach. Can't wait to put it on a gun and try it out!

I also want to see the footage from JRab's. I know Drew Templeton from Infamous already put some of his footage up:

These cameras worked great for us this weekend. Myself, Nicky Cuba, Kali Rudolph, Travis Lemanski and Greg Seiwers all had one on our gun in HB. The first day we were missing the mounts so we just had them taped on our barrels (which still worked)

Overall the footage came out great. You have to stay on top of keeping the lens clean since it's easy for it to get smudged during a regular day of playing. The battery life was also great in it. So good that we had to go out and get larger SD cards to capture even more footage.

The coolest part about the footage (IMO) is that you can critique your playing since you are now outside of the box watching yourself play. You notice just how much you are (or aren't) in the game when you should be, you notice how well you communicate and a lot of other things. Definitely worth picking one up.

being able to cut to a players gun cam during a live broadcast would revolutionize the way paintball is presented on TV. It would be much more watchable for the non-hardcore fans.

The first day it definitely outlasted the record time for the 4GB stock card. This past weekend was the first time I played with it so I'll have a more accurate guess of how long the battery life is this weekend at practice.

I agree, it wouldn't be too difficult to broadcast either.

there is company that makes a self powered streaming box all you do is connect to the camera via a hdmi cable and stream it wireless. i think this would be easier to pull off if it was on the goggles then the gun but but the tech is almost there ...

Hmm very interesting. Is this camera 1080p as well? Anyways it looks cool but until I hear more about it or see it in person lol Ill stick to my current setup. Ive been using NUMMECH's specialized paintball mount for Contour Roam HD http://www.nummech.com/prod_item_contourbarrel.htm

But If I have some extra cash I may just pick one up, depending on the reviews.

Yes it's 1080. I had better footage running it at 720 60 FPS though. The 30 FPS on the 1080 was a little choppy at times for a paintball gun shooting 15bps.

yes thats the kicker you have to be-able to do 720 @ 60fps, and if the price is a major concern there is a cheaper one coming out that maxes out at 720 @ 60fps but its only $200, I don't know if they will offer it with the gun mount.

Can we look forward to more footage going up?

Also, talk about a great way to make better training type vids....as well as the broadcast possibility. Way cool!

this is very true
there is alot of players though, would mean alot of cameras and alot of up keep/set up time. But still a great idea, it would also probably get rid of the announcers saying the "i dont really know what he is doing right now"
