Also, just wondering, why are you going extended cab over a full four door? The chevy 3door/4door extended cab design is pretty spacious for the whole extended thing, but I would have dropped my old 3door for a 4 door truck any day.

Also, front license plate on the first truck makes it worth the money, already.

And last, but not least, I wouldn't pay 14k for either truck personally.

Edit: **** you ego.
I prefer the extended cab because it holds the same amount of people and i usually get more bed space. honestly, im never riding in the back so its all the same to me. anyways, answers like that are what ive been looking for

8.1L - anywhere from 325 hp to 550 hp and roughly 455 lb-ft torque

ive heard that from someone once, but it was their designated mud truck so i never really put that much thought to it seeing how theirs was being buried up to the windows every weekend.

Judging by the replies, looks like the first one is a better investment

Since ill be going to diesel school shortly that was a major plus to having a diesel for me

Neither is tall enough. If you have to worry about overpasses and drive-throughs, then you can buy it.

26+ posts and not one "PM Clawhammer?"

Also, first one is nicer. The fact that you know the history coupled with the fact that it has less than half the mileage of the second, you're better off that way. That said, your brother should give you some sort of family discount.

Get the first one. It's newer and has less miles.

Also I don't get people that rag on people lifting their trucks and then spend money on new wheels, turbo chargers, exhaust, etc. If he likes how the truck looks then who cares

Well most people can't work on anything, but paying someone to work on a diesel truck is outrageous. At least, it is here in MD.

FWIW I had a 2004 silverado z71 extended cab also. It started crapping out at 99k miles. But i'm sure it's an anomaly.

Should clarify: It was still running fine but some orange service light would randomly turn on and the service 4wd light started coming up

Realistically, the bed is not bigger for an extended cab than it is for a four door truck, UNLESS you're looking for a single cab truck with a long bed, the extra inch or so isn't a big difference. I'm saying, as someone who has had a Chevy extended cab before, I would look for a 4 door if you can. However, that first truck you posted is quite clean looking. Looks well kept. It's not a bad truck, judging by looks.

The paint just doesn't look as glossy as the first one. Maybe it's the camera, but it looks like it's had a few washes..

Bad sensors. My lights were on the entire time I had my Chevy. Just never felt like tossing a couple hundred into replacing that ****. Everything worked just fine.

off roading/racing/autox > city driving > highway

in terms of wear, generally

Would you rather buy a truck with all highway miles, or all backwoods trail 4x4 miles?

With the 8.1 alone you'll be able to keep that babied, because you won't be able to afford to drive it. Then you add those tires into the mix. I strongly reccomend you consider the price of gas.
