Sorry for not saying that we need to change something but I like paintball where it is at...
DRebel dont worry! you said it true and to the point! the sport is good as is and walk ons keep our fields alive.

I was talking to a local store owner and he was saying he wishes the public was more educated on the sport of paintball and he also wished the players themselves were more educated on the sport so there wouldnt be people bashing down on it all the time

Does anyone else think how a divison 1 APPA member can go down in ranking and then play in a lower class and just rock on people like in d5?

Do people find it weird how lower level tournaments give odd prizes to the winners?

I play hockey and it's about 3k just for registration. Gear will cost you 2k. If you play travel like I do you got hotel/gas/resturant money. It can cost more depending on what level you play at,but you can end up getting paid for hockey where as paintball you get paid little to none with some exceptions Lacrosse isnt as expensive but it's still expensive.

Sideline coaching in tournaments, but not recball. I think recball coaching is good especially for new players

I think we'd all agree more exposure and cheaper prices would be nice. Those things could come hand in hand as well.

If I asked 100 random people at my college who Shaun White is, I'm sure the overwhelming majority would be able to correctly tell me.

If I did the same thing but asked who Ollie Lang is, I'd be surprised if 1 person got it right.

The only people who know what tournament paintball is, are those who play it...

To market paintball to NON-PAINTBALL PLAYERS, you have to make it as entertaining and easily understood as possible. The PSP does this 1000x better than the NPPL. I don't even like watching the NPPL and I love paintball. Paintball needs 1 dominant league: clearly the PSP in my mind. 5 man is more entertaining to watch than 7 man. A faster paced 5 man would be even more entertaining: something like the old X-ball where scores would be 16-14 (that's a bit over kill, but more points and faster play = better to watch). If the PSP could do something like the NPPL did on ESPN 2 many years ago I could see it having success.

A lot of people are saying cheaper paint, and a lot are saying no ramping. I would think you can't have both of these because if there is no ramping then Companies aren't getting as much money for paint because people are going through a little less more.

I agree we need to get this sport growing more and more. I feel it paint prices weren't so expensive it would grow a lot more. Another thought would be if we could get more of our youth interested that would help too.

While its not going to be anything official and you will probably get little to no financial backing from the school such as the football or basketball programs it is possible. Just talk to your higher ups and let them know. Basically its just you and a group of peers that enjoy a common interest, like the chess club but cooler....

The one thing that i wish would change was mentioned above... going back to the glory days of 03-06. Fields were popping up everywhere. Playing wasnt super expensive, Mid level markers were popping up left and right competing with the big boys of the time (Angel, Bob Long, Matrix). This was when paintball was at the peak of its popularity. one thing that really needs to happen is a reboot in the economy. Sadly paintball was hit the hardest by this factor alone... Once it builds back up then so will the number of people hitting the fields.
