I wouldnt mind if they just cut the desmond plot out entirely.
They seemed to pull it way back in revelations, finally giving the choice
whether or not you wanted to play his sequences. This game is entirely compelling until you have to exit the animus.
/rant. Will buy this game either way.

Desmond is the plot. He's going to be more of a focus in ACIII because he's going to be the one to stop Abstergo.
They pulled him back to end Ezio's story, and to allow a "Revelation" moment where they could drop a massive moment on him using S16.
I hope they use him more. Nolan North is one of my favorite voice actors out there, and I love the character of Desmond. I'm hoping he finally gets some moments like ACII where he got some action. Instead of just object hunting for a few.
Looks cool. Clearly buildings not being so abundant was taken into consideration - they're no longer the focus. Assassin's had to update tactics eventually, right?
Does this game look cool? Yes. Will I buy it and enjoy it? Yes. Does that make it an excuse to get rid of one of the major selling points of this game series, free running over beautiful architecture? No.
You'll still be able to probably. I'm guessing the "city" areas will be in major US locations at the time (Philly, etc) which have multi-layered environments. Not talking like NYC turn of the century style, but plenty of few story buildings + historical locations.
Most of the stuff in rome, etc, was only 3-4 stories max so we'll probably still see that. I have a feeling they wouldn't have picked it if they couldn't give that experience. I'm sure they picked location(s) that specifically gave them the environment they were looking for to a degree.

They didn't get rid of it. You will travel to England too.

the creators said way back that Assassin's Creed is, and always will be solely about Desmond. it's his story, and i quite enjoy it. i haven't played Revelations yet, so i can't say anything about how his parts played in it. But i enjoyed it in the other games.

i doubt the designers would scrap out one of the highest points of the game. as stated above, you'll still play in england. but like you, i will buy it and enjoy it. but i'll hold off my judgments about actual gameplay until i see videos of it.
ubisoft will release more info about the game monday. hopefully a nice trailer. they have a countdown going on the assassin's creed website.

Revelations didn't hold my attention nearly the same way AC/ACII did. I wouldn't mind playing through it again before this drops, but it just seemed a bit too forced.

It seemed like they felt they needed to give Ezio a "proper" closing, but also give a kick to the story so they built Revelations mainly to give Desmond those last few moments.
I think it was needed to move on, but I preferred ACII/Brotherhood a lot more.
New assassin's name: Ratohnhaké, but adopts the name: Connor. He is of Native American and English descent.
According to US News. Also, apparently the game has been in development since Brotherhood was launched, and features the largest contingent of Ubisoft developers ever for one of their games.
