There's a time and place for everything man. Figuring that out is more of a maturity thing I think. I did the tourney scene and all of that, and I'd probably go back in a heartbeat if I could support it economically, but I'm happy to go out with my pump gun, use a quarter of the paint that some guys use, and shoot twice as many people.
It's been years since I've really had an opportunity to play my hardest, meanest, "best" paintball, but I haven't needed to, and I'm fine with that. I have more fun now anyway, just going to the field and spending the day enjoying myself rather than trying to win every game single handed.

But really it's the best stage of being a player. Play when you want, where you want, with what you want, as often or as little as you want to.

Haha sweet pic. It's so true.
Most of the time lately I find myself playing in jeans and a sweatshirt with my pump. And all my nice gear jerseys/pants/ego/ect. sits in the truck. It makes paintball fun again to just play at my pace, one ball ppl, and try to make sure rentals/walk-ons have fun aswell.

I got tired of the tourney scene almost 12 years now, I am about to play my first game this Sunday, I re-acquired a bouch of mid level used gear to play rec ball and maybe a tourney if I feel the need, I'm planning on waynes world grand finale this year since the last time i went was the 2000 one

I am doing kinda of the same thing expect in the short time I played back in the day tournament play wasn't even on the radar. Picked a fair Amount of mid rang stuff so I can be somewhat competitive at speedball, But I play in a set of carhart bids and a long sleeve. I have actual found this is great because I walk on by myself most of the time, and if its only renter I can still get game most of the time. When there is no one else self equipped at the field. I just snap shoot and one shot. Don't know where this road is going for me but it a good time none the less.

@ OP i know exactly what you are talking about! I did the same thing started in the woods, went to speedball was all about it til I started playing varsity sports in highschool then I stopped for a while (4 years or so) then in college I got a decent job and got the itch again. My first time back was at a big game and I instantly fell back into it. For me though it was like riding a bike, after the first few games it all came back to me. I also find that I enjoy it now even more than I used to!

Always good to get rid of all the fancy stuff and get nack to your roots and just have fun and decide what time of ball to play and when
