Don't worry about only hitting the prescribed reps. That's why the last set is an amrap set. Do more when you can, only hit prescribed when you can't. It is still progress. Also, don't kill yourself with the assistance work. I don't remember who mentioned it but, "don't major in the minors."

yeah, I went in there with the idea that assistance is exactly that. Gonna just do what helps, don't want to waste energy that could be devoted to the main lifts, especially on a cut.

There is a kid who I went to HS with who can bench 405. He squats 185. He's about 5'9" and maybe, MAYBE 190lbs.

Blows my ****ing mind.

Of course he was a high school 'athlete' who did more or less nothing but flat bench and curls for 10 years, but still, I can't figure out how it's possible.

Genetics, some people can know nothing about nutrition and naturally bench 405 after a few years, then there are people with ****ty genetics who do everything "right" and still may never be able to do 405 naturally.

guy at my gym benches(tng), front squats and back squats 405.deadlift he hitches 500.

I keep trying to get him to get one a good program, he hasn't made any progress (literally none) since I started going to the gym. I don't understand why you would do that to yourself...

Guy does look pretty massive.
