Austin Dillon does look good. I'll enjoy watching him come up through the series. Kind of hoping he will win the championship this year.

I thought he was going to win Sunday at Pocono. He had the fastest car for a good part of the race but I disagreed with them and the 24 coming to pit road with 20 laps left. Especially since the few in front of him were staying out. What really surprised me is that they didn't put left sides on his car. He went about 250 miles on those tires lol. Pretty incredible.

He's knocking on the door though. He definitely had a car that could have won this weekend as well as at the All Star Race.

Agreed. He's doing just fine. I remember back in 03 when Kenseth won, I believe he only won 1 race the entire year but was consistently at the front every race.

Cars are going to Haul *** this weekend at Michigan... wont be supprised if NASCAR Does something after thursdays test day to slow the cars down.... were talking 215-217 mph entering turn 3

They're flying at Michigan. Lap times over 204 during practices. I don't think they went above that during qualifying though. It should be an interesting race.

Dodge probably won't have any cars in the field next season from the way it looks now. I knew Penske were the only major teams that ran it and they're switching to Ford. That's interesting.

I knew it was a matter of a time. I bet he has another 3-5 before the year is up the way they have been running. I think the 88 team is the only team to have finished every lap this year btw.

I think Dodge was courting a couple teams out there, Petty being the most notable, and that they'd also talked to some folks outside the current NASCAR circles. The Jayski rumor mill also mentioned that a fifth manufacturer was trying to break into NASCAR. I have to wonder if Nissan is finally going to take the plunge. I'd heard they were looking into it a handful of years ago but didn't think the cost of entry was worth it at the time. I could see them entering the Titan in the truck series to get their feet wet and engine program up and running (a'la Toyota's plan), then jump into NNS and Cup in a year or two.

I don't know it it would be smart for RPM. The reason Keselowski said they were moving to Ford was they were the only teams doing tests and development. I'm ready for the new cars next year where the front end will look similar to the manufacturers car. I think they already do that in the Nationwide series.

I remember back in the early - mid 2000s, how each manufacturer was different especially with power/mileage. It was real noticeable with Dodge. Those Dodges used to be fast but had the worst mileage out or any car.

I'd like to see Nissan get into Nascar. I think they could use some more variety and some more imports. Id like to see Honda get in too. I think itd be cool to see jap cars vs. american cars in this sport.

I usually agree with you, but not on this one. This is 'MERICA.

Seriously, I don't think many more teams in the sport would be good, because it would be hard on the teams to do testing, development etc. on their cars which is the reason Penske is going to Ford and not staying with Dodge.

I would like to see them change it to the Mustang, Challenger/Charger, Corvette/Camaro, and I guess stay with the Camry lol. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldnt that violate the very principals NASCAR was founded on? I mean, sure, they could all be running Vettes and Mustangs and what not, but isnt that exactly why NASCAR made the rules the way they are? I think its cooler NOT to see those cars running around the track. At the end of the day, NASCAR is supposed to be 90% driver, 10% machine (IMO) and they've done a good job keeping it that way over the years. The last thing I want is this sport to end up like a boring *** time attack a la F1.

Joe, I think you might have misunderstood me. I was trying to say just use the body style and looks(mainly on the front end) of the faster cars rather than the Fusion, Impala etc.

I don't see why the Cup series can't use the Challenger instead of the Charger, Camaro instead of the Impala etc. Make sense?

Models are picked strictly on a marketing basis. Dodge is using NASCAR to market both the Challenger and Charger. Ford is doing the same with Mustang and Fusion. Chevy opted not to go the "pony car" route in Nationwide because they said the lines of the Camaro wouldn't look right in racing form, it would have to be changed too much to meet templates. Chevy will be going to the SS next year, though, so the clock is running on the Impala.
