well thats how teams work now adays

its not like the 1990s when terry L won his championship and hendrick said in a interview "well the driver we wanted to win didnt get it (talking about gordon) but we will take it" after that they moved terry's team out of the main shop and put them in a metal building out back with ricky craven .

Really?

I remember Craven's win over Busch at Darlington. .002 separated the two.

in the 90's craven ran the 25 for a few season for hendrick, think it was him schrader, and dollanback that ran it over the years.

That was before my time so I didn't know.

Does anyone else wish NASCAR would stop making so many changes to the cars, rules, etc.? I don't understand what was wrong with drivers being able to speak with each other over the radio. I wish they would have left the drafting alone and not messed with this partner business. It was better than last year though.

I thought last year made it kind of pointless to race because it literately would come down to the last lap. I also wished the outside lane would have been able to make ground.

with how the rules are setup the outside lane cant do ****, you have to really push for multiple laps for an outside lane to work, and they can't do that because of how hot they get pushing.

That was ridiculous. I miss that tide car, too.

Yea, I remember that. That was 96 when Terry won. And Craven ran the Kodiak car iirc, the one he flipped at Dega.

I remember they were in commercial when this wreck happened.

I wish they would allow for larger radiators, I dont think that did anything to increase "racing" and keep cars from tandeming up, but the drivers being able to talk to drivers, I like that being limited. It was never like that early on, and it was every man for himself, driver vs driver. Your friends were where you found them. I like progress and all that, but at the same time you cant sacrifice tradition and go completely away from what the sport is. I hated the tandem racing, I much prefer the large packs of the early mid 90s to 2009 or whenever they went to the COT. Tandem racing was boring, it was more about hooking up with another car rather then trying to do something like this to win:

Call me old school, but I like this so much more. In tandem racing, the lead car wins, theres no pulling out and passing and sling shotting past someone.

I think that may have more to do with the new pavement at Daytona and the time of the race, the amount of rain they had over the weekend. I'm very much looking forward to Talladega in May to see if this keeps up. I just hope they make the radiators a bit larger to keep the overheating issues from being a nuisance.

agreed. The only good thing about it is increased driver safety, but then again, its not like the original car was a death box. Frankly, the CoT sucks ***, and it changed racing for the worse. You used to be able to move out of the draft and pass even in restrictor plate racing. Now its this gay tandem bull****.

if this wasn't a night race i'm pretty sure they would of lost atleast 5-10 cars to radiator issues.

they lost 4 engines in the busch race even though those cars had better cooling systems.

Which made it boring at times last night. But Montoya spiced things up a bit.

I never thought about the radiators. That would help out a lot.

I also preferred the older style restrictor plate racing as well.

Is this weekend's race saturday night or sunday?

davey was awesome

**** helicopters...

also Ernie irvan was a great driver shame what happened to him, they had 10-15 people die or get seriously injured in the old car before they even thought about changing it. then it took them another 8 years to execute it.

None of those guys drove the 28 car.....or 42....whatever....but if youre talking about fatalties in general....theres been quite a few.

kenny irwin
adam petty
neil bonnett
That giy who died at wTkins glenn

in addition to those names.....i cant remember them alll off the top of my head but its racing. people are gonna get hurt/die.....im all for making the sport safer but lets be real. moat of thos fatalties were freak accidents....like stuck throttles at nhis or some freak mechanical failure. most of this "safety" concern is an overreaction to dale sr's passing and i dont think nascar has been quiet about that. honestly, i feel that if say.....mike wallace had been the one to pass instead of dale sr, that the cot would have been years away....it is what it is, but i dont think its all right.

i was talking more so about people that either died or got really hurt and had to quit racing in the old car while nascar did little to change it.

i dragrace and i understand racing dangerous, been at the track when people have died before its not fun.
