That is correct. The rule exists in order to allow refs to penalize players although that is not really happening. Remember the days of dwell ramping? Did not require a tool.

I remember people smacking the cocking rod/bolt to ramp up velocity on their cockers. Someone shot a dime sized hole into an inflatable doing this.

One of these days, velocity will be an adjustment done via the board on the gun and what will we do then? The fact that we can't disallow them to have a circuit board on the field will nix the entire velocity control concept. NPPL is the only league that currently is using technology that will be able to monitor this

Regardless of the rule...it is still a cool idea. Even if just for open play and practices.

this is the effective way to get your gun scratched.
just one key on the body of the condom I'd consider.
also makes me think how easy it'd be to just attach a
form a of a loop to my existing the bodies of condoms
I've already own, instead of paying this hefty price tag

on a different note, it's almost scary how many of you
people call yourselves paintball players and obviously
never been once to any form of a woodsball game ever
Well assuming that you take your barrel condom off when playing i dont see how a key ring with the barrel condom string running through it will cause the key to scratch your gun.
the key can be moved far from the gun body and will hang off the string away from the gun.

I'm a pretty clumsy dude, I'm sure I'd get guns scratched just by walking
around with an allen key on the string of my barrel socks in no time flat.
mine and probably other people's guns too lol

i keep my allens on me, in my pockets, when im playing.

obviously nobody is gonna be using these to adjust velocity while there playing a game or anything.

so hidden allen keys in a barrel condom are not gonna be something the refs care about, or you'll ever get a penalty for. they have far more important things to do

But I can dispute that. He's making an accusation about a truly undefined category of paintball player. Besides, being a cheating a-hole isn't confined to being an HK supporter.

By the way, I feel like if someone was going to cheat, this might be one of the most impractical ways of doing it, ever. The "no tools" rule was made back in the day when the pace of the game was slow enough that a player could turn up their reg mid game, and turn it back down before they got chrono'd off the field, all while dodging the notice of the refs, which were fewer back then. The purpose of turning up those regs was also to help reach the other end of the field, which at the time was farther away than it is now. If you're gonna cheat, wiping and board mods are the way to go nowadays.

It should also be noted that I'm a 30 year old man who has never purchased an HK product in his life. I'm considering Shredder cleats though...

Why do people think that other players will raise their velocity to 300+ on the field? I mean, the paint isn't going to be very accurate once its past 300 fps. I mean c'mon now, the idea is a good one. I lost a 1/8th allen key adjusting my velocity and now its nice to know it won't happen again. Lastly, why would a tournament player adjust their velocity on the field, its just absurd.

My concern isn't the cheating or the rule of no tools. I see bobby joe bringing his agglets going to the field with a kid new to paintball. They show him the ropes and he like paintball, starts to learn to use the gun and they teach him to chrono. well this kid heads into the woods and cant figure out why he isnt able to reach the far side of the field. Cranks up the velocity and blasts someone up close later in the game.

I know its a bit far fetched but my concern is the rec ballers who may not know better. Yes you would be stupid to cheat in a speedball game and yes you should absolutely know better as a self respecting baller. But sooner or later, some guy who buys a used gun off craigslist will have a much easier time reaching people too far away. I know they can bring their tools and do this as is, but why make it easier. Is tuning really that big an inconvenience that this will solve it?

Adding tools to a barrel condom won't all of the sudden make it easier for them to cheat, will it? Tools have fit in pockets since before people played paintball.

not sure, but if they come in the condom it may just come seem ok, again farfetched i know but the only real issue I have. Tools have to be taken to the field, a condom must be taken. No need to confuse newbs, leave your tools in the bag.
