"California" may very well be a team's Code Name for a particular bunker on field. Most speedball games have "coaches" or "Spotters" yelling out the positions of opposing teams' players during the match. a Lot of teams have come up with Code names for bunkers so the opposing team can't counter the call-outs (If I say your in Dorrito 2, and you hear me, You could move to another bunker before a player can take aim on you... but if I say "California", I've called out your position, but you have no idea wether Im talking about you, or another teammate's position)
