I only agree with you by about 50%. If our current administration was not so against producing oil here, there would not be such a dependence on foreign oil. The Keystone pipeline is a perfect example. Granted, the oil would have technically been foreign, but instead of going to china it would have been coming here to Texas. I agree some blame does lie with Iran, but our president has done nothing for us to decrease our dependence on foreign oil.

We are super dependent on foreign oil. Are we trying to hold our supplies until the rest of the world runs out so we can charge an arm and a leg for them and be the new Saudi's?

Here's one article
Of course oil execs are going to blast Obama. However, the profit margin for oil is much smaller than most people really know and understand.

That may be a legit theory. I can't remember though, did president Obama or W release some oil from our strategic reserve in attempt to bring prices down?

I thought so but couldn't remember. We have also increased our exports because consumption has gone down so much due to prices being high and the economy.

Yet somehow the oil companies still manage to post record profits quarter after quarter. And those numbers are in the billions of dollars net profit every quarter.............Yeah I feel bad for them and their tight margins.

Sometimes industries have nowhere to go but up. Record just means higher than the previous year, however it sounds worse when presented to the public "BP Posts Record Profits For FY2011". There is a lot more manipulation on this than we will ever be able to comprehend.

Another thing to remember is refining methods make profit. Chevron can take that oily sludge from South America and turn it into gas. So they pay $25 a barrel and make a ton of money.

I might take some pics and list some stuff on Ebay. That doesn't take much effort on my part.
