i feel that switching toa 50. cal paintball size would actually grow the sport. think about it, people that play with 50. cal paint and get hit by it wont hurt nearly as much. it will also be more affordable for them too. wich all that in turn would have helped even the regular players out because of paint prices. i think 50.cal paint shouldve gotten a little more push. what should have happened is a gun manufacturer like planet or all the way down to spyder should have produced their own 50. cal paint and sold it cheaply so it could at least kick off the ground.
Why? A smaller round at higher fps would be very much cheaper. .18 less than a .68 isnt going to net much of a lower cost to product ratio. Maybe a .45 would or .40 But then they would lose alot of the distinction from airsoft.
Why not move a different type of ammo all together< obviously impractical, but would be awesome if powder balls could be used. Kinda like a foam ball filled with paint powder. No more washing, just shake your clothes clean.
Insurance is probly the single biggest problem with the whole thing.
The thing that really makes airsoft what is..... is the "realism" look. I tell ppl all the time, I dont play airsoft. Its paintsoft. They never get what I mean, until they see a game. T-shirts and jeans. Bandana's, funny masks, afro hair, not many camo guys or tac loadouts. Just super fast games.
I loved speedball back when I played, so this is as close as I could get. No paintballers around here. /:
