Milling a G3
hello, im a car guy at heart, and paintball is just one of my many hobbies. i make a lot of one off parts for my subie, and have milled several paintball guns in the past. just wondering if anyone has milled a G3/4 before? ive just gotten started today, and sorry but progress will be slow.
here is a sample of past work. 08 pmr, i milled the rail off, played with the swoosh in the side, and some minor other tweeks.

Here is a teaser of what i have going on the G3 so far.

Nice custom work. You'll have to post pics when the G3 is done.
Oh, just to keep the clutter out, go back and delete that other thread .

I can't wait to see that G3 when it's completed.
The only G3 I've seen that was custom milled, simply had the "dovetail" on the back milled down a little. I've never seen anything as elaborate as what you're doing.

I appreciate your creativity but to be honest the work you have already completed looks like a real hack job.

It's called he just started on it. No project where you change how something looks completely starts off beautiful.

It looks a lighter now, but I'm not a fan of the milled out breach area over the barrel or the sharp angles.
Good job so far! I can't wait until the end product.

sharp angles are part of the design. sorry, they will round out a lot once i start sanding and buffing. As for it looking like a hack job... that's the point. you wont see the clean lines until its almost done. i have to focus on what i can mill, and making it symmetrical. the hack job give me solid definition to match on both sides, once sanding starts, it is very very hard to tell how much you've sanded depth wise. thanks for the comments though.
on a different note, ill probably have one or two more nights of progress, and then this will be put on hold while i move to texas.

No no no! Haha. I'm not a fan of sharp angles/edges on any marker really. I'm sure it'll look great in the end though.

I just wanted to put my 2 cents in here...but "milling" is done where you use a mill/lathe to change the shape of or to remove material. Thus using a mill for milling duties. Using a dremel/airgrinder/benchgrinder is grinding, and grinding only. ie.."I used my Dremel to grind away the soul of my G3 yesterday" Key word in all the tools your using is "GRIND". You are NOT milling anything! And it has nothing to do with wether you can/can't afford one of those expensive mills either, but if you call a turd on the sidewalk a flamingo...sorry its still just a turd.
To help you out, here's a simple mill/lathe:

And here's an impressive mill/lathe

wow i never knew that. thank you for enlightening me with your high school education. like i said man, im a car guy at heart. i have watched parts being milled that take over 5 days. i however, do not have access to a 250000$ mill that someone wants to let me use for 5-10 hours. this is my cheap and easy at home mill.
just a hater...

i could post pics of my apartment packed up if you'd like. but no, no actual updates. contacted a friend about milling out the back of the tech t engine, so you use a allen to take it off like normal, but still use their L7 bolt. then i ordered a L7 engine off ans gear. going to ship that off to get milled as soon as it comes in.
oh, and just bought a threshy, and 2011 alien indy. both will be getting anno, no milling though. except for maybe my logo.
