If you had $1,500. Help me?
Hey all,
Hopefully the title attracted you to this post.
Anyway, I haven't paintballed since 2006, it's been too long. At the time I had a DM6 and that was the hottest shiz out. I want to start getting into it again. but have no idea what new guns are out there anymore other than egos and dyes, and whats good, what isn't good.
So yeah. If you had 700-1500 dollars, what marker would you spend it on(New, or Used)? I have an empire Magna and Pulse hopper still, and a tank. so just need a marker really. Looking for something that is easy to maintain, reliable, and shoots paintballs straight.
Let me know your opinion and help an old baller out!
Thanks

Well, since you've got the DM6 lets stick with what you know(dye matrix). You already know how to clean, lube and maintain that style. and reliability is based off how well you maintain your gun. If you can't find the 5 minutes it takes to relube the bolt, then yes, your gun is going to give you trouble, however, if you keep it clean it shouldn't give you much issue.
I'd recommend a DM9, if memory serves I think they are running about ̶6̶0̶0̶i̶s̶h̶ 500ish used. And it's said to be the best one with the 10, 11 and 12 only featuring small tweaks.

4-475 used, and imo the best bang for your buck used as far as matrixs go.

Get a DM9 its so similar to a '10 and an '11 its worth it. You can easily find a nice one on here for under $500. If you want to stick with spoolies but want something a little different look at a used DLX Luxe 1.5, Clone VX and Vangaurd Demon. With whatever money is leftover id pick up either a DYE rotor or prophecy z2 loader.
If you wanna go the poppit route, the bob long g6r has taken off like wild fire as of late.

Also, the proflex remains the best mask you can buy.

Why would he forgo a gun he is familiar with in exchange for two foreign guns that he may or may not like.

Since you already have a hopper and tank, get yourself a DM9, JT Proflexes, Empire Jersey/Pants/Pod Pack, and some arm and knee pads. You should be able to get all this under $800 and save the rest to go play. The pads and jersey aren't really necessary, but your joints will thank you after a couple of hard days of play.

Dye arent the best guns my friend has a nt11 and another has a dm11 i have owned 3 dye guns aswell they are very picky and also dont shoot well in the cold and the resale is very bad and they take long to sell. Personally i would get as luxe you dont need the luxe 2.0 the newest one maybe a 1.0 or even a 1.5 if you want also maybe a geo 2/ geo 2.1 would be a awesome very relaible and very smooth.

Luxes are far more finicky than a matrix. Ive not had an issue with any of the 8 or 9 matrixs ive owned.
Dont pay over 500 for an m9

i havent had any issues with the luxes ive owned. Im not sure its all on your point of view dms shoot really nice and so do luxes some of each will have the ocassional problem and be finicky if you dont know how to take care of it if you really like the dms then you could stick with em if you want to try something different then go with a luxe but thats just me

I agree with SKRA27, things have changed and I suggest you invest in a Rotor or Z2 Hopper. Yes Dye haven't held their value but, lets talk paintballing.
Are you planing to play or just keep it at home. I've shot every gun you can name. I've even taken demo videos of several guns to show some of the differences.
Although I may have a Luxe 2.0 which I love, it shoots as well as my NT11. They both shoot great and basically the same, with the exception the Luxe is about 1.5oz heavier. Both are quiet guns, if there is any in paintball..LOL
I've seen great deals on 1.5 Luxes and NT11 are going very cheap now these days.
If you don't mind the gun to be a bit louder, the the open bolt is an option, for example EGO9-11, GEO2.0+ are also great guns.
You can get your self a good deal on the guns and hopper and not have to spend all your cash. Remember, once you start back up is always the addiction.
I say get a great gun and hopper of the bat, instead of upgrading slowly, you end up loosing way to much upgrading till you get that expensive gun.
Remember you'll need the extra cash for the rest of the Gear...Good Luck and Welcome Back.
Jorge

I held a DM12 today, felt interesting, idk if I liked it all too much. but I held the GEO 2. and the EGO 11 and I liked the ego 11 a ton, it felt great and light. I also like that there are very little o-rings on it!
