Question Looking to get in the tournament scene in the next couple years!

So im 15 years old right now almost 16 and i love in NY, i have been playing paintball for about 2-3 years but i took a break for about a year and a half, im in the process of getting new gear so i dont have to worry about my stuff breaking anymore. And i want to just get better at every aspect needed for the tournament level. i sometimes get to practice in the bi polar weather out here in rochester NY in my backyard but im not sure what i really need to work on to become a decent paintball player, any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Nick

You can start playing tourneys at any level. Just join a rookie team. The biggest thing about tourneys? Money. Entry fees and paint. Then, again, paint isn't so bad since you'd probably buy some anyhow. But, I bet you go through more paint than you'd expect.

Just go out to your local field and start learning from the more experienced players before jumping into a tournament.

Then when you get comfortable with how the format is ran go look around for a rookie team and then go on from there.

On average you'll need about $300-400 per month for practice and if you play tourneys regularly.

I agree. We started that exact same way we played in some local tourneys before we entered a tournament series also.

Yeah it sucks because we have one legit Xball field, and its only indoor it would be nice if there was an outdoor field. So there is only a 3 man tournament there. and the paintball scene has died since about 2-3 years ago. its too bad. Thanks again for the responses

I think it might make a slight comeback this year.

I hope so and also it dosent help that most of the regulars that came to this field stopped playing because of the AXBL going out business, and the others that still play now go to headrush in Syracuse because that's where the NYPL is, and where most of those teams practice. I'm going to attempt to gain Rochester's paintball scene back, i have already started trying to see if they will get a legit 5 man league going and i hope someone in there right mind opens a outdoor field up here.
