Anyone break a carbon fiber barrel yet?

Just curious about the strength of carbon fiber barrels and whether anyone has seen or had one break from normal playing use?

I'm looking to purchase a deadly winds barrel so answers including this barrel are most helpful to me.

I've seen pictures of a broken barrel (don't think it was a DW though), but never seen one in person. I don't have a DW, but do have the Deathstix and a Stiffi, had a Sly, and have a Stiffi tip for my Freak and never had an issue with any.

I play with a friend's Stiffi often, and I'm usually diving into bunkers and what not. They're pretty durable.

The only way I see a CF barrel breaking is if you take a core sample or hitting it against something hard.

Had a stiffi tip on a evil pipe kit and took one of the worst core samples to the point that there was mud all the way into the evil back gun sticking straight up out of the ground. Once I completely cleaned the mud out the tip was perfectly fine and worked as it did before. DW barrels are great. Highly recommended

I would highly recommend the DW greatest barrel I've ever used switched from an UL to DW and it is way better

The deadlywinds is by far the most durable carbon fiber barrel on the market. I personally used one for an entire PSP season and didnt separate, have any burrs (sp?) or any wear on the tip. Stiffi material is either win or lose, I have seen plenty split, unravelled, or snapped.

Never seen one snap in person, but in a tourney video from a few years back someone took a bad dive and broke the barrel off at the aluminum thread piece. Only other thing is i have seen a sly come out because there must not have been enough glue holding it in.

The cool thing about CF though is that if it breaks, it breaks pretty damn clean. You can still shoot with it the rest of the day if you wanted.

They are not likely to break. I have personally never seen or had one break in person, but have seen one chip/crack slightly after being slapped very hard against a rock in a woodsball game. I personally would have no concerns what so ever using one in any playing environment. Most of my experience is with Stiffi but I have also used Sly and Deadlywinds in the past. I have held but not used the Deathstix and they seem similar quality to the Slys so I am sure they hold up find as well.

One thing to consider however is they do scratch internally a bit quicker than aluminum barrels due. This down a the long run can have a small impact on efficiency if you are matching paint to the barrel or running an underbore. If you are overboring with one there is little to no impact on performance.

I run a deadlywinds barrel and love it... I play snake and my gear takes a lot of abuse. I have core sampled more than once with mine and it hasn't even scratched yet...

Broke a stiffi tip a while back. The CF was fine but where it joins together it was broken. Got a replacement from Stiffi and never looked back. CF is very durable.

You will not go wrong with a CF barrel... I used mine for 3 years before i sold it with a marker and it was perfect from begining to end ...

If I'm not mistaking, dw ran over their barrel with a car and it did not break, I don't think it bent either ( saw the video a little while ago)
