It seems like more of a tilt when you put the mag in instead of it going straight up, I tilt the bottom end toward the trigger which pushes the top part of the mag forward. Once I learned the difference, it hasn't been an issue.

So another question about this marker. Does anyone know if the stock uses a mil-spec or commercial-spec sized receiver extension tube? There are a lot of different stocks that can be used with these tubes. You would just remove the butt stock, leaving the receiver extension tube attached to the marker, and put on a different butt stock.

I don't think first strikes will fit due to the barrel having a hole for switching modes. (mag/loader)

As for the standard stock, it's a Spyder chassis - not sure what mil spec is, here's pix

Can you measure the diameter of the tube that the stock slides on (not the part that goes in to the marker)? Mil-spec will have a diameter of 1.148". Commercial spec has a diameter of 1.168".

Inside diameter of the buttstock is 1.148. The tube that goes into the stock is 1.137

and FS rounds are gonna be no problem

Just gotta make the barrel/breech and receiver hole a bit more square. mags shouldnt be too

Mags might be easy, or not. but with the 2 halves it shouldnt make it too hard to work with

So that means the MRX can use Mil-Spec buttstocks, like this one from Magpul.

Hey everyone. My team is sponsored by Spyder and we all run the MRXs. Some with the hopper and others with the mags.

1) the mags will not work with first strike rounds. Even if you mod the mag to somehow feed without jamming, it will not feed into the barrel properly. The first strike round fins will sheer off. This is from experience.
2) I have a Magpul CAR stock in replacement of the oem stock. I do believe the CAR stock tube is mil spec. You can always call the Spyder office and ask for the marketing dept. they will find out for you.

As for the rumor mill, don't mod you MRX for the First Strike... Just wait. 1213 may have some really good accessories for the MRX.

Hi robot0ninja,
I currently a Proto Reflex, DP E1, Tippmann Phenom, and have been playing for over 20 years. I have a MilSig Elite. It was up on EBay for a while. I've spent (about) $850 on the marker and $35 per 8 extra mag for a grand total of over $1K with all the other stuff I got for it. MilSig ripped off it's internals from Tippmann. I actualy mod'd a Tippmann E-Grip for it so I could have Semi, 3-Burst and Full Auto. The Elite is an all metal body, so by mid day, my arms are done.

I now have a Spyder MRX for $169. It's light weight and I let people use it all the time and its been dropped with no problems/breaks. It has a large bore like a Tippmann barrels so I use large paint. It SHOOTS ACCURATE out of the box. I have a 68/4500 compressed air and fill it once per day. Super efficient. I can switch between using the hopper and the mags with a twist of the barrel un like a Rap4.

If you want to bash a "Crap4", be my guest. But I'll bet a case of paint you haven't even played with the MRX.

That is correct.

The only difference between the MRX and the MRX Elite are the accessories and 18" barrel.

The barrel does add more accuracy. If you use the largest paint you can find, the MRX will shoot great out of the box with the 14". Both barrels are .689 I be leave.

Good to hear that you had a great day with it.

I put my mag in my vest butt up/paint down. No problems. I'm using my MilSig hydro vest with 4, 2x mag pouches. But I take out the Velcro mag separators. Then I just use a dump pouch.

Hi gabrielromelio,
The mags have an optical illusion because of the bend in them.
1) Line up the top of the mag (where the paint comes out) with the forward facing mag well wall (the wall furthest from the trigger).
2) Lean the bottom of the mag towards the air-line or trigger. The top of your mag is now lined up with the mag well.
3) Push straight up as you slide against the forward facing mag well wall. The mag should go in with out any problems.

Thanks, i've actually been waiting and lurking for this picture. I'm glad you laid it against a balance valve too. That purge hole makes me LOL. The AKA has similar holes to help with recocking. I'm not sure how much it helps but i can't wait to see some comparisons, this would make retrofitting are older spyder even easier. I may buy one.
