How tight should my elbow pads be?
I was really excited because I got my brand new proto defender elbow pads today, from ansgear.com. The only problem is they slid on relatively easy, but I am trying to take them off and I can't do it. Is there a trick that I am missing or did I get to small a size. I think I might go try buttering down my arms. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you sweat!? If so, they generally compress! If you cant slide them off with little ease, then you need to go bigger

I honesty have no idea... Maybe if you are pushing from the top, try pulling from the bottom?

Got them off. Had to call in the calvary. After my 15 minute struggle it took my mom and my sister pulling on them, and me pulling other way to get them off. I think I am going to order bigger... and go somewhere I can try them on before I buy them.

Depends on what size your arms are and what brand you go with. But, I can tell you with the Planet Eclipse elbow pads you have to break them in a little. You don't want them moving around while you are playing, should be pretty tight.

You want them snug enough not to move when you slide hard, but loose enough to give you a full range of motion. Proto pads are nice in that they're relatively thick, but the downside is that they're less stretchy than competing brands such as Eclipse. I used the same Proto pads from 2007 to 2011. They started off loose and they ended up so tight that I could barely take them off. As long as you can remove them and they're comfortable, I'd keep the same size. Those things are built to last and you can dive straight onto concrete (but please don't try it).

get elbow pads with velcro straps.. no matter what, elbow pads will always be harder to put on than take off.

I find the opposite is true, mine slide on easy, but take a solid minute or two to get off

Got a 45/45 tank? Put it on the tank to stretch it out a bit. Just leave it on there until the weekend. 45/45s aren't too big that they'll stretch too big, and not too smalll that they won't matter. I've done this to all my past pads.
68's work perfect for kneepads. Keeps the grip, but makes it easier to remove.

Might sounds strange but if you know anyone at your local field ask if you can try theirs on. Different brands fit differently so sometimes it's best to try then buy, also if you find yours aren't keepers you can usually post up online or on your local field to trade with someone with a similar issue. With that being said Eclipse pads are quite nice....

I like mine a bit tight. I have big arms so just about every brand fits me snug.
However you should have a full range of motion while wearing them, otherwise they are too tight. Make sure they dont cut off circulation.

Wow, yeah go get a bigger size.
And yes, go try them on locally. You might want to switch to buying hard/upgrade parts online and soft goods (jerseys, pants, pads...) locally.

they should be just tight enough to stay on without moving around a lot. if you need to butter your arms they are probably too tight.

just get pads that fit you. my 2007 eclipse pads went on and came off my arms with ease and never moved up my arm or fell off or anything. best elbow pads ever.

I am looking at either the eclipse or dye elbow pads. Both have great reviews but eclipse is a little cheaper. Are the eclipses a good option or should I pay the extra money for the dye's?
